I'm getting ready to put a 4K into my '91 replacing the (bad diff) AUG.
I got the correct speedo gear from the dealership (white gear) to match up with the 4K final drive ratio.
Its been a few years.... but isn't there a "one time" use ...clip... I'll call it, that holds the gear to the cable that should also be replaced? IIRC- its just a bent wire, or a C shape
I'm going to start on the trans swap today. So i thought I'd get this question out there.
Anything I should be aware of when changing the gear out? Tips/Tricks?

The gear should just snap on/off, also replacing the speedo cable gasket is key...

    Precisely correct.
I'm not aware of it being a one time use part, but as cheap as they are, I'd replace it anyway.
If you can't find one I have a few new ones handy here, $1.50 shipped if you need one.

They technically should just pull off with some force, but often they can not want to come off. Other times they fall off and into the trans but since you WANT to change it, it'll be locked on if you have my luck

You can sometimes help them out with a small screwdriver to push in on the clip a little to help free it from the inside groove it seats into on the inside of the gear.
