Thread: Revving issue + water problem

  1. 08-11-2012 12:55 PM #1
So I've been having this issue for a while and I think I know what it is, just wanting to confirm it is the problem before I go fixing it. My car idles at high RPM's, at around 1-2k when I am sitting at a stop sign or stop light. I replaced the MAF sensor but that wasn't the issue. I assume that it is the throttle body or the sensor correct?

Also, I came out the other day to park my car in the garage and I saw a huge puddle of water where the passenger puts his/her feet. It was all in the carpet and I just dried it up. It was raining out but I don't think I have a leak or anything. I was told it might be my heater core that went out and that the AC is the problem?

Can anyone chime in with some insight or anyone else have similar issues? Thanks for your time.

Hmmm, the high idle might be cured by doing a throttle body alignment through VAGCOM...

Water on the pass floor might be coming down from the rain tray area, check your pollin filter and make sure the drain up there is clear of leaves and stuff...

If that didnt fix the water then it might be the a/c heat exchanger not draining properly, check the drain around the exhaust downpipe area pass side, it might be clogged...

If its the heater core leaking the smell of anti-freeze would be noticed...

    Update this thread when fixed.

The water leak could also be the drain tube & grommet interface inside the cabin behind the kick panel, or the drain itself might just be clogged at the nipple.

    I would start with this.

Define free. There is no such thing as free with a VW dealership. They break more than they fix. As for the recall, I'm pretty sure that only covers the rear drains.
