According to the Bentley the seats from the 1995-2002 should interchange. Be careful as there are airbags in some of the seats. Also my 2001 has heated seats so something else to consider. I am fairly new to VW's so not much help.

Thanks for the info. Is Bentley like a book or something?

And when you say interchange you mean the beakers just bolt right on to the car right?

Yes the Bentley is a service manual for the Cabrio and it covers VW CAbrios from 1995-2002. The same Bently service manual also covers Jetta, Golf, GTI from 1993-1999. In the book it clearly distiquishes between the Cabrio and the others. I got mine on Ebay and got luckey only spending $40 for it. They typically cost $100.

To be safe if you find some seats it would be best to contact a local dealer and ask them if the bolt pattern is the same on the ones you want to install. I am assuming that it would be the same, but you know what assuming does. :-)

Any front seats from a mk 3 platform Golf,Jetta,Cabrio vw will fit with no modifications needed.
Not all seats will have airbags and/or heaters though.

Like stated above, any seat from a Mk3 Golf, Jetta, or Cabrio '93-early '99 will fit but only Mk3.5 Cabrio seats late '99-02 will have the seat airbags that you need. If you install seats without airbags your airbag light will be on unless you bypass it with resistors.

Also mk4 seats will bolt in. Ditch all the bags and get the light cleared. I wouldn't know the easy way of doing this. But I just open the cluster and remove the bulb. Idk what it reads through the scan port on a 3.5. It didn't say anything through my mk3 using a scan tool.
"Squirt squirt squirt squirt" She'll understand when she see's this. Damn hoodrat friends.

MK4 seats require a new front bracket welded in place of the front mount on a MK3 and the seat sliders ground down to fit in the MK3 mounts. You can also weld in brackets to make MK5 seats fit, or seats from any other car for that matter, but the only seats that require no welding are MK3(.5) Golf/Jetta/cabrio seats and certain years of Passats.

That's a negtive. The Mk3.5 Cabrio is a Mk3 chassis so it has Mk3 seat rails. Mk4 seats will not fit. The seats that come in the Mk3.5 Cabrio are "Mk4 type" seats but with a Mk3 base.
