    Hello all.

So a few weeks ago I noticed this strange noise coming from my MKV GTI 2.0TSI motor. Today, I'm finally noticing that it would make the noise intermittently. Then as I was documenting the noise, it began to do it constantly. Does anyone know what this is from? Maybe what caused this?

A side note, I put in a Neuspeed P-Flo Intake (Which you will see) but this sound was happening prior to the intake, so the car was bone stock.

    Any insight? Videos here

    Thanks again guys.

Water pump is trash, if your still under warranty get it replaced. There is still the chance that it could do this again as there has not been a sure fix from VW to fix the problem for good.
Drive it like you stole it!!!

Yes I am still under warrantee, which is good. Is this only with the MKV models? or the 2009 TSI's?

    Common in 2010+ 2.0TSI engines.

I did a quick search on this and saw on a few other forums... apparently VW released a NEW pump, (post-problem oriented pump) that fixes the issue? Or at least the people who noticed the newer pump did not notice the problems returning.

It's a shame that this is a well known "common" problem.

What would these pumps go for out of warrantee?

BA and AN revs have not been superseeded. Where did you read that?

I saw it over on the GTIMKV forums. could be billsh*t, but that's what I read. What are the chances that the problem will happen again?

You'd think VW would do something to remedy this. What does a waterpump go for retail for when im out of warrantee?

VW is supposedly working on a permanent fix. No word on ETA. A water pump is +/- USD300.

[Sarcasm] That sounds like a reasonable price, just like everything from the dealer! [/Sarcasm]

No, no. Wp is usd300 if you buy it from an online retailer, not from the stealership!

So I actually found a thread here on Vortex. Click Me! see in the OG Post it says...

"The dealerships in our area have seen a lot of failures and had lots of new pumps in stock.

The pumps have been superseded by a new part number with a new bearing: 06H 121 026 AF"

Wouldn't that mean that the old pumps were replaced with newer revised ones? Again, I don't know too much about that part of the car

Very old thread. AF rev was superseded by BA rev.
