Just watched an episode where a failing bar had a pirate motif.
After the remodel the owner decided to go back to the pirate theme.![]()

I don't understand how she was able to do that. She said she was in 900k debt all ready. I guess she liked her parents basement.

Enjoy the show, although I think the guy is a little harsh on some of the employees. Some fully deserve it, some not so much.

I have a buddy who runs the area franchises for the audit technology that measures and keeps track of overpours, free drinks, etc. I think they get featured on this show frequently (not him, but the company)
He says it's just startling how much money bars lose due to sloppy work and flat out booze theft. He's also amazed by how many owners, even after being presented with the facts, either refuse to believe it, or flat out don't care because they don't want to rock the boat with barstaff.

The very first episode of this show was in a bar in my town.

I also know a chef from a bar/restaurant that was featured. He "took the week off" during filming so he wouldn't get caught up in the BS. We were fairly regular customers and the "owner/manager" was a guy we had never met. They went through the same "theme" change/makeover that sounds like the modus operandi of the show right down to a name change. I thought the host was a douche and the staged confrontations were terrible even for this genre of show.
All that being said, my buddy's place reverted back to it's original name and menu within a few weeks and it closed for good 6 months later over a lease dispute with the building owner.

I like the show (as well as Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares). Watched the Piratz episode last night. I can't think of any better comment than previously stated, the owner is retarded.
Although Jon Taffer absolutely comes across as the world's largest @sshole, I cannot fault much of what he does. It also amazes me how many bars I've been into run directly opposite so many common-sense things such as decent food, service, & appearance.

I was an extra in the recent episode in Baltimore (JA Murphy's in Fells Point). Taffer is actually a pretty nice guy - obviously a lot of the screaming and yelling is for dramatic effect, but he does know what he is doing and many times the owner's need the wake up call.
In the episode I was in, he really made a huge difference in the operations of the place, but it was unfortunately too late for the owners. They were just too far in debt and even with the improvement in business operations, they could not make it work and the business shut down a couple of months after Bar Rescue was there.

What I want to know is how Taffer gets some gorgeous experts for season two. I mean, Jessie Barns...good LAWD.
