OK SO i SEARCHED BUT I HAVE MINIMAL TIME TO DO THIS!--- so it hits about 5-6k sometimes less and like it starving for fuel or getting to much air or something- just gurgles---

    possibility?

    --Maf ?
    --5th injector not working?
    --full throttle switch?
    --fpr?
--o2 sensor- blinks when I first start-then rev goes away-battery light same ish.

I cant think of much that would cause this -- also bottom of airbox removed cause car to not run?
my old 8v it would run fine! please help- I lost to a corvette because of this! I cant let that happen when Im reppin for all of us! if you save my car it makes you look good~

Gurgles is not all that descriptive so I'll not try to understand that. A CIS-e system has no MAF so you can forget that and the "5th" injector is only a cold start valve and has nothing to do with the engine once it is running. Full throttle switch might seem a good point but enrichment should come in around 3500-4000RPM and not 5-6K, but testing it is easy and only takes a few minutes. Fpr is a very durable item and I doubt it has failed, but doing a fuel pressure test would clear that up and is always a good place to start with CIS systems. I doubt it is bad if the car runs OK up to the stated engine speed though. O2 sensor blinks? If you mean it has an idiot light for the O2 sensor then it is just a reminder to have it tested or replaced and has no effect on the engine at all.

Have you replaced the fuel filter in the last 26 years? Many people just never get around to putting a new on on and the engine can begin to starve for fuel if it is starting to get clogged. Idle and normal driving will be OK as enough fuel passes through but when more fuel is required the clog blocks it.

No, an open filter element will not cause it to not run. It does nothing really, no more power and no better running, just the added sound of sucking air. If however you managed to screw things up and air is by-passing the sensor plate somehow, that can cause a no-run or even engine stumble.

Stop racing corvettes. Post what you like but I have owned a few corevttes and even the bad one (spelled slow) will eat up a 86 Gli 8v and spit it out, unless very very modified.

thanx for your input- as for the racing corvettes,ect-its fun! -if you never try you will never know- "race everything and lose nothing, race nothing and you've lost everything" --------- i'll do a fuel filter it cant hurt.
