Looking to lower my 05 gti...i was leaning more towards lowering springs instead of coils..looking for a descent drop to fit over my long beaches...not a slammed look..but around a 1.5" in the front and like a .5-.8 drop in the rear because my sub already is dropping the rear. PLEASE give me reasonable suggestions on lowering springs n struts that complement the springs. im also looking for the rear support bar for the struts...trying to have the car ready for H2O-Sept 29 n 30th

Honestly I was in the same boat as you. I bought H&R sport springs w koni yellow shocks. It was pretty harsh riding and not very low. I would just buy koni coilovers and put them all the way up or another coilover system. Ive liked the ride of coils to be better than cup kits. Also H&R springs are very harsh for daily driving.

On your budget lets say $500. Try fk or vmaxx coils. Just don't spin them down too far.

    My option...slammed is best

I'm planning on H&R OE Sports and Koni STR.Ts for my car, MJM Autohaus has them for $499.95 and free shipping here: http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/p...oducts_id=4696

I've read good things about Koni STR.Ts when paired with lowering springs, I'm specifically going for the OE Sports because I don't want it to look lowered, want a linear rate spring and I'm trying to maintain the factory suspension geometry (those crazy germans, it works! Plus it should pair well with stock bump stops) but something similar with H&R sports of Neuspeeds or something that is more like the 1.5" you're looking for should be good too. Don't forget a front sway bar for drive axle clearance.

Neuspeed sells 2 different cupkits for the MK4 that lowers it a decent amount (40mm) and it has either Bilstein or Koni struts. They're both 500 dollars.
