Thread: -DeRicing an MKIV- I think Ive saved one... pick heavy

  1. 08-13-2012 02:26 AM #1
Long story short I got a great deal and bought this car in the spring. Planning on stripping it down and using it as a daily I had alot of work ahead of me. Well I started having alot of fun working on it and making it more presentable and after damn near stripping it down to nothing and starting over im getting pretty happy with how the car is turning out.

Here was what the car looked like when I brought it home

New bags, management, interior, some body work, some stretched rubber, OEM hood and grill, and a chit load of maitenance later, here's the outcome...

Got rid of the fake splits for some twist and moar low.
I never could get the fitment dialed in with these because of the 7.5 fronts, rear fitment was baller though.

Here's how the car sits now and after some TT spindles and LCA's im going to be pretty happy with it. Added a little more camber and pulled the rear fenders to fit some 19" HRE 540's.
We just got a new camera today so I took some decent pics today and wanted to share my progess with you guys. Thoughts and or suggestions please, Im done with the front bumper fitment because I just keep ripping it off so please forgive that.

I wouldn't say de-ricing, it was still fairly decent judging from the pictures. But you have definetly made it much better and I enjoyed seeing your work, so props to you sir.

I should have been more elaborate, I pulled about 20 neon lights and led's out of the interior and a plexi glass/light show sterio install out of the hatch. Add that to the CF hood, ebay grill, and halo's and you've got rice. I wish I had more before pics.

Sorry man, I should have asked before I made assumptions. From what I saw, the front end needed most of the work.
Are you keeping the M3 style skirts?

Probably keep the skirts until they get ripped off or I break them with a floor jack. I really dont mind them except they a fiberglass and brittle.

that's what you think will happen....

i've had my m3 skirts for like 5 years now with the same thoughts: "run them till they break." mine have been crunched on steep driveways and squished by floor jacks and theyre still fully intact

great turnaround on the car. that rear fitment with those twists was but tucking the HRE's is just as dope

Yup 19's, I was trying to get away from 19's so I could get a little lower and run more tire but I just have a thing for big wheels I guess. Kinda missed them when they were gone.
