^ While prepping my SW for its first detail I noticed this... a frame bracket. Awesome!

^ My DIY foam gun in action.

    ^ Clean.

^ Finally finished de-badging. For some reason that was the toughest one I have ever done. Took a hair dryer, finger nails, credit card, and a ton of Goo Gone to get off.

^ On the drive to pick up my reward (Beer) this gem came on.

^ Part number for the K&N filter. BTW big noticeable difference with this motor. I live in the mountains and I have awkward hill climbs at low speeds 2nd gear under the power band, and before it would lug, now no problem.

    ^ My friendly assistant.

Haha Rick Roll! You have to be careful with the rear plate... the screws they give to affix the plate to the bracket are TOO LONG (ask me how I know) and can damage the paint underneath - potentially making a hole in the sheet metal. Removing the Jetta was one of the first things I did as well.

That must have been your dealer, or maybe they supplied those earlier on. Mine are really short.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Gold calipers? Sure, why not.

Currently tinting the front sidemarkers. I ordered some aerosol Candy White, that I will try out in a week or so.

    Gold calipers should look good.

Painting the calipers is one of those things I've put off for so long...

It isn't that bad, but I have done it a lot of times. I like to keep the paint fresh, including OEM colors (e.x. GTI).

Still trying to pick out wheels...

    My #1 pick:

They are on close out at Tire Rack in silver, but I would plasti-dip them black, maybe with a gold flake.

I love mine. They are nice and light. If you can get a good deal on the wheels in silver and plasti-dip them for less than the regular price, you should definitely go for it. I think on a CW car, they would go well. Here's mine for reference:

Ok so first round of mods is coming up. What do you guys think? Anyone have H&R's Cup Kit? I plan on upgrading all the bushings, etc to Whiteline in the upcoming future.

You should really consider just going with coilovers, man. Springs always seem to looking slightly reverse-racked...they may sit truly level, but to the eye, I think, they always look off, even if only slightly. That's just my opinion though.

I agree 100%. The adjustability is key - I love my ST's but peeps also love the koni coils for under $1k.

I will probably go with ST's, I like the coils in general, and JSW guys have high praise for them.

I haven't had lowering springs since 2001. I have had coils ever since.

Whoa, your Radio displays songs differently than mine. Is that an RCD 510?

    Potential firmware update?

Not sure, must be a 2012+ thing, but it is full color.

Also do we all have 10 speakers? I assume yes since it is wagon.

Have you finally decided what wheels you gonna get?

You need staggered wheels. Just sayin.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

hey man! great setup so far! I'm going through some of the same crap with my "build" as you are. Maybe I need to start a competitive thread! haha

I contacted HPA for a quote on ST's then wondered how much more would I pay to upgrade to KWs, and after reading that "ST squeak/knock/racket " thread I thought what's another $500 over the life of the wagon for something a lot nicer/better quality? But I'm sure that issue only applies to like 3% of ST consumers. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say....

Also rock the gold rims man! I'm currently powder coating a set of V701's in bronze, but the gold colour option made it a hard decision. Would love to see how yours turn out if you go that route...i just hope after I see it I won't regret my decision.

ST's are great for the price. My main reason going for them is 1) I want something that works, nothing fancy like V1's. 2) People here tend to like them, and coils for the JSW are a sore topic, too many coils with wrong spring rates.
