According to my service writer, it can't be done and they wouldn't even discuss it. They wouldn't even acknowledge the existence of the sensor... even after I showed it to them. Others have also tried and from what I have read, if the VW tech has a VCDS (Vagcom) and he is in a good mood, he will make the changes. Supposedly the dealer systems don't have the ability to make the change. Give it a shot and post your results. Your best bet would be to find somebody local who has VCDS, most folks are willing to help out. There are posts here, and on TDIclub.com, listing who has VCDS and where they are located. I am sure you can find somebody local to help you out.
If you plan on keeping the car for any length of time, and you do any of your own wrenching, VCDS will pay for itself by avoiding only 2 visits to the dealer.
