As a few others have mentioned... any gas powered HD pickup will be absolutely abysmal on gas. I daily a 2005 Silverado 3500 crew cab 4x4 long box with the 6.0 V8. According to fuelly, I average 9.6 MPG. I imagine it would be worse if it was a dually, so thank god its not. While I do love having a truck, at ~$500/month in fuel, if I didn't need it I wouldn't have it.
My old '03 Hemi Ram got 10mpg city, and a whooping 8.5mpg towing on the highway. My '12 Hemi Ram by comparison gets 13 city/20 hwy. I haven't towed with it yet.

my vrt is OKAY on gas due to the build trany and taller gears. (60mph in 4th at about 3k) but it still eats 92 octane like a porn star eats.....well you get the point.
