Thread: New and slow or older and fast?

  1. 08-15-2012 12:30 AM #1
Can't decide if I should purchase a golf city and just slam the thing or buy a chipped passat and lower it an inch or two.
So actually its more reliability issue.
    2008 vs. 2003.

if you don't really care about going super fast all the time, i'd just get the 08 for reliability.

Cruising at a modern speed limit, say 80-100mph, is ok in my book... I mean kph. Low cars in the NY/NJ area are not the way to go for daily drivers. The pot holes in the area 6 months out of the year will swallow up any slammed cars. I paid my fair share of tickets as well as brunch at Dunkin Donuts for local law enforcement. So hurray for speed limits, unless you plan on taking the car out on track days, which is another thing to consider.

Well, since the OP is talking about a Golf City, I don't think they're in NJ or NY And plenty of people drive slammed cars there. Just gotta be careful. And just because you get chipped doesn't mean you are out playing speed racer everywhere either

They made Golf Citys in '08? I'm gonna go search for a image. I was aware of the early versions (I own one) but I didn't think they made a comeback.

For what it's worth, I actually prefer my (older, slower) Golf City to my newer GLI. I get much better gas mileage and I find it much easier to work on.
