I have a Passat SE with the 6 disc that looks exactly like the RNS 510 but without Navigation. Since a couple of days ago, the radio, more so the phone and when I have my Blackberry connected it is extremely slow. When I go to the phone menu and touch who I want to call, the radio keeps playing call failed comes up and I have to hit ok, and then 5-10 seconds later the call goes through.

I have only had the car for two months and have taken it to the dealer only for my DRL issue in which they replaced the who headlight assembly (I don't know if its because my father is good friends with the guy who owns all this VW dealer and several others for 30 years). I would just like to know if there is an update for this system and should I bring it back to VW? Or does my phone have too many contacts which could be slowing it down or is it just that Blackberry sucks balls?

*Edit* The I have I have I have was not done intentionally but looks funny.

You have the RCD-510 (non-navigation unit).

Never had a problem with my bluetooth calling or volume of my calls. I'm using Android (originally a G2, now a Galaxy S III). To me, it sounds like it could be 1 of 2 problems. The first could be the phone, and the second could be your bluetooth module. I was test this by having someone with another phone (probably completely different type of phone and service) connect to it and see how it sounds. If it sounds the same, I think the bluetooth module is faulty.

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it some more, if the call goes through, just after the message and a few seconds of waiting, I would probably think it might be the phone not supporting the car bluetooth (or vice versa). There hasn't been any software changes for the bluetooth that I know off, so def try to test this with another phone.

You might try resetting the Bluetooth module. There are instructions on how to do this at http://askavwsalesguy.com/blog/2012/...th-module.html

I have had zero issues with a Blackberry Tour and an iPhone 4S with my RCD-510 (Fender) system. I would try to reset the Bluetooth module as suggested above.

I work for my father who owns a Sunoco and I use my car all day long to drive customers home, to pick up parts 5 minutes away or to drive 3 hours for the part to be wrong, or the car is complete sh*t and worthless, to sneak out for a 20 minute smoke break because working with family sucks, to meet up with a girl I am talking to who works 10 minutes away from me. Basically I get in the car move it 5 feet turn it off, drive somewhere park for 3 minutes get back in to drive 2 minutes to turn it off, to wait 45 and start the process again. I would say 85% of my driving is NYC driving (60% sitting in traffic or going under 30 mph).

So all morning the Bluetooth in the VW was working great. A woman I had in the car thought it was unbelievable that cars have this. But after work when its time to use to car for my personal use, it starts messing up again, just like the way I explained it in my OP.

Thanks for the help guys and I am going to try resetting the Bluetooth module see how that works. If it works, thats awesome. If it still acts up I know its this sh*t Blackberry which is going to get thrown out my window and off the bridge I drive over everyday (after I backup all my contacts and pictures).

    Thanks again!
