Get that coil out of there. Get one made by Bosch, Beru, or OE from the dealer.
Cheap coils can be bad right out of the box, even worse, can burn down the coil drivers in the ECU.

I have recently replaced my coilpack. Now my car will "cut-out" around 5k randomly. It never started doing it until I replaced the coil. I bought what the local NAPA called "stock replacement" but the box said made in china. Was wondering about any ideas or a better coil pack option thats not high priced. Its a 98 jetta 8v 2.0

Does anybody know if MSD has any that would work? Anybody have any luck with the Blaster 3 ignition coils

Search, people have made other coils work.
Unless the car is seriously modified, there isn't any gain to be had from that though.

Ive just seen that they are cheaper then a Bosch coil. They only thing I noticed is the MSD is a 2- wire and mines a 3-wire

That's an old-school coil there. The VW coil has an ignition module built into it.
Just get a Bosch or Beru stock replacement. It's well worth the extra couple bucks.
