Doesn't the look on Vettel's face make it look like he is a total retard and should be wearing that crash helmet 24/7?

WTF...was there any promotion for this? How do they expect to draw up excitement if nobody knows this stuff is happening? That tunnel entrance they guy was filming from his apartment is 2 blocks from my office!

No kidding! It's no wonder F1 has a hard time gaining traction in the US. Do they promote these events in other countries? This filming seemed to be for their own consumption and didn't want many others around, but I would think they would try to market the hell out of the other events in the lead up to the GP in NJ.

Good one...I work a lot of hours but I'm happy to say I wasn't in my office that night at 2:00am...although now I wish I was!
Looking back, this is certainly drumming up a lot of excitement...I'm super excited! I sent these videos to all my friends and coworkers of which 1 is an F1 fan and everyone was likeCan't imagine how that must have sounded in the tunnel considering my worked over 2.8 12v sounds downright nasty in the tunnel at full tilt.

On a side note. Do any of the other teams do their own promo videos like this? I know they do the F1 roadshow or whatever but it seems as though Red Bull do their own thing every few months to promote events.

That Shakedown video was cool. Those G37 'rides' were pretty irresponsible. Did you see the guy on the bicycle???
Hope this race happens, as I'm ~ a hour away, and I know someone w/ an apt. in West New York, and I think it might be on the circuit!

Man, I hope so. If anyone hears of any teams coming to NY/NJ to do promo...post up. Hell, I'd go see HRT if they were in the area!
I have to believe as the race gets closer, more and more promo stuff like this is going to happen. I'm sure the week building up to the race there is going to be a lot of the teams doing promotional stuff in and around the city. If this race does not happen next year, I for one will be extremely disappointed.

The original article the OP posted said 90 MPH
Yeah, they should have completely shut down those streets. If the drivers were under the impression they were on a closed course when that was not the case, then I can't fault them...but the fact that even the cops were having to dodge other vehicles on "course" leads me to believe that it was a half-assed organized publicity stunt at best. It really is a good thing nobody got hurt.

I think a few other teams do this at certain times, but this stuff is what Red Bull is good at...marketing. I'd love to see them drive an F1 car through each city's streets and freak everyone out midday. Pick an area like Times Square, rip some donuts and take off or park it and let the crowd take a look at the smoking tires.
