i have a 97 gti and the past couple months its been having intermitten electrical issuse. one of which is when i go to start the car it trys to start and just Sh*ts out like the batterys dead and the hazards come on. Now in the past all i had to do was disconnect the negative on the battery and wait 15 seconds and reconect and it would start up fine but now its not starting at all just continues with the hazards unless i have someone jump me then it starts fine.
ive seen a few people saying this could be a alarm issue but i cant pin point it exactly. i tried holding the hood pin down and reconnecting the negative but the hazards still come on and the car does not start....... i need some advice where to start addressing this issue and solving it because my car has left me stranded many times already and this is getting very aggervating.... and the battery is holding a charge fine so i dont think the battery is shot if that helps at all... thanks

Have you had the battery load tested? How old is the battery? What condition are the terminals and ground connections in?

i dont think the battery its that new but prior to this is never had a battery issue ie. lights dimming or anything like that... but the connections were a little corroded but i cleaned them off and the problem still persists...

you won't know until it is tested. do it or don't, up to you.

    ~*bump update*~
i load tested the battery and it was good, and i took the alarm module out and jumped the 2 power wires together so my car would start.... no more alarm but thats ok my driver side door didnt even have a cylinder in it ... i still had to jump the car to get it started and i turned it off and ran it a couple times. but the last time i stoped and started the car it started up rough usualy what it does before it craps out again so the problem is still there!!.......HAS ANYONE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM!!! I NEED ANSWERS PLEASE!

The alarm issue was a symptom, not a problem. You've bypassed the symptom without curing the problem.

Check the battery again. How was it tested? Did you check the alternator?

Check grounds. Check connections at battery. Weak starter maybe?
