Thread: APR Stage 1 Boost

  1. 08-17-2012 11:55 AM #1
I don't have a boost gauge so I thought I would ask. I have a stage 1 APR tune on my 09 Wolfsburg. I was wondering what the boost level is on the stage 1 tune.

    Thanks!!

15 and 18 are NOT stock numbers...

and how are you guys peaking 21psi on APR stage 1? Or is everybody just posting their random tunes now?

AND are Stage 1 TSI numbers any different than FSI, which is what the OP is vs. what everybody who is posting has...

    great thread.

You hold 24 psi at wide open theottle?

"theottle boosting" does not count either like in the video above. Theottle boosting will build more boost than what you will actually see when driving the car at wot in the correct gear

sorry but i'm calling BS. K03's die out dramatically in the high rpm and there's no way anyone's holding 18psi at the end of their rpm band with a stage1 k03 no matter what tune they have.

I changed my oil with diluted KY Jelly and I really like it. Drove it 3 miles no problem yet. Highly recommend it.

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. And I wonder how accurate analog boost gauges are compared to digital or compare to other analog gauges of different brands? Maybe that plays in a role in this confusion? Or everyone's just talking out of their asses that's also an option

  26. 08-21-2012 09:11 AM #26
I had apr before I switched to Giac. Stage 1 apr for me ran 18psi drop to 15 at redline .That was with stock downpipe .If you have an aftermarket exhaust ,I would think you should get 20/21
    psi

  27. 08-21-2012 09:21 AM #27
I hold 25 psi with virtually no fade.I know you will likely call bs but I am not kidding.I have giac
x plus ,venair intake ,3 inch dp ,forge 007 dv,mbc, forced cold air intake,n75 race valve ,wastegate hose mod.

    I just don't believe a ko3 is producing a steady 25psi. Please people. VIDEOS.

What is your wastegate hose mod you referred to? Never heard of it

It's way out of its efficiency range.

    DSM 14B - 405CFM

I wouldn't feel comfortable running more than 80% of a turbo's maximum rated CFM, speaking from a standpoint of longevity and reliability. I believe K04's start loosing efficiency after ~26-28lbs (correct me if I'm wrong) I wouldn't run more than 22-24PSI on a K04 with proper cooldown and warmup on 93.
    K03 becomes inefficient above 19.2lbs

Thank you Robb. It's not that you CAN'T do it (especially with a MBC and wastegate mods like nuffsaid has), it's just stupid to do unless you're trying to lose a turbo quickly. There's not much talk of that kind of thing on here because 1) it's stupid and 2) it's not smart.
