We got a Manual Passat SE a couple of months ago. Unfortunately its the best trim you can get in stick shift and I've subsequently found a few features which I'd like to add.

Driver side seat memory - Flicking through the manual I noticed that the seats can adjust based on the key used to open the car (BTW - AWESOME). My wife has a complete different seat and mirror position to me and so this would be really handy. Remote car start, and keyless entry would also be a bonus but really just a nice to have.

Cornering fog lights - This is more of a treat for my wife who preferred the look. Although give the wide range of weather we experience in our new home in Chicago I think it'll be a great addition.

Anyone know if these retrofits are possible and/or expensive?

I don't think SE owners can get cornering lights without changing their body control module.

You might be able to retrofit memory seats, PROBABLY the only difference is some extra can bus wiring to the body control module. But I'd need to study the wiring diagrams to be sure.

The accessories guide I was given suggests that the fog light retrofit is possible.

The seating feature I think is a little more tricky as the memory seat buttons are incorporate into the seat but perhaps it just a matter of switching out the plastic frame.

I dropped our parts manager an e-mail to find out.

I've got the retrofitted foglights, so that is definitely possible, but as compu_85 eluded to, the cornering feature doesn't work. You do need to change the body control module. They still are great foglights, however, and do complete the look.

I'd be interested to see what you find out about the memory, though...

    Just got a response:

Fog lights - They can be retrofitted for $899 including installation. I sent a follow up e-mail to see if that is with the cornering feature disabled. The price is a little steep for me particularly if the cornering feature is disabled. Is this something that's worth self installing? compu_85 is that what you paid?

Memory seats - Not possible because the factory wiring is different which is disappointing but what I expected.

The dealer fog light kit does not wire up the lights like the factory. I haven't fitted fog lights to my car yet.

The memory seats can be added, it's just a question of adding the wiring and extra control modules as needed.
