Get it mechanically checked out. Replace BS crap that needs to be done soon, just to get it out of the way. No point in having a tricked out slammed cabby that's broken down on the side of the road.![]()

Tomorrow I am picking up a German spec 87' Cabriolet with a JH motor in it. I'm not the kind of person who can just leave good enough alone though. what are the first mods this car would normally recieve? engine work? suspension? brakes? I really have no idea of what this car is really capable of or what is worth doing to it. I just found it today and decided I should have it, it's nice and solid, no rust, new suspension (supposed to be stock, but seems pretty stiff for stock), new brakes all around (incl. e-brake cables), new tires on ats cup wheels, a new top ect...
Thanks.

As far as I can tell it seems to be very mechanically sound. It does need some o-rings for the injectors and some vacuum lines replaced. But the new o-rings are in the glove box and I am going to grab the vacuum lines on the way home from picking it up. These things should be fixed in time to take it for a cruise tonight. Most of the other minor BS has already been replaced. I have taken it for a long test drive and feel pretty confident it will make a great daily driver. Now I just need to finish wrapping my mustang and put it back together so I can pull the cabby in the garage.

Ok, I'll just go ahead and stick my foot in my mouth now. No sooner than I got it home it started acting up. Have to crank it a lot to start it and it runs really rough.

Do you wait for the fuel pump to prime before starting? Does this only happen on a cold engine or even after letting the engine run? Hows your gas? Been replaced yet?
