Thread: Rear Cupholder Removal

  1. 08-18-2012 01:07 AM #1
OK, I just came from the junkyard where i basically ripped a console apart for lack of a better way to remove this thing, and I'd much rather not do the same to mine. The part that needs to be replaced is one of the legs connecting the cup holder to the cover of the rear of the center console. I was able to remove it from a donor car after removing the entire cup holder assembly from the console, which was held on by one screw and then required a LOT of force to yank out.

Using the same method on mine is proving to be too dangerous. I tried removing the whole console and there was still no other way to access the cup holder assembly. Does anyone know the proper way to remove these things?

This does help a little, thanks; but I still can't figure out an easy way to get the cup holder assembly out. It seems that the only way it to pry from all sides until the whole mechanism finally wrenches free (after removing the center screw, of course), but I almost busted my center console trying to do just that. I've resigned to fudging the one part I can't access, and it gets the job done. I do appreciate the diagram though; I'll keep it handy in case I need it in the future.
