Feeler.. Considering offers. strait car. No rot. Well maintained.

Its an 88 gti 16 Valve. 140k miles. And
It runs great, engine is strong, transmission shifts awesome. Smooth and weighted with USRT smart shift kit.
    Neuspeed springs/ bilstein shocks.
Its black, red stripe dash. Leather/red striped seats. Momo wheel. Neuspeed strut bars throughout.

Bought it from an older gentleman in march,
He took great care of it. Ive put a ton of hours and tlc bringing this car back to its former glory.

Also thousands $$ in parts and labor.

I had Damon at german autosport in amesbury sort the car out when i first bought it.

They went through and sorted everything that needed attention.
-USRT shift kit. New shift linkage
    -new clutch cable
    -new shifter
    -new intake boot
-mk4 rear brake conversion. New rotors pads and rear brake lines
    -new front dual round grill
    -new headlights
    -new inner lighs
    -new radiator support

After that i bought a freshley refinished set of orginal vw 15" BBS RM's with gunmetal centers and polished 1.5". And 1" lips and polished center caps.
    ($1600)
Then ordered rare 165-45-15 Nankangs from BFI ($450)

Car runs and drives great now. Ive been stockpiling parts on more stuff i wanted to eventually do on the car. Ill throw in everything.

Engine and transmission in this car are great, you need nothing in that dept.
    Extra parts included-
Front suspension/steering is a little rattley over bumps so I bought a full front suspension/steering refresh kit from ECS tuning. The best one you can buy, with all new control arms, tie rods, ball joints etc.. And all new bolts and hardware. That was approx $280

-Full tune up kit from ECS.
With fuel filter, spark plugs rotor cap etc.

    -2 new Ebrake cables.
-4 20 mm BFI wheel spacers
    With extended lugs.

-Also brand new pioneer cd player($130)
    Still in box.

I know there is alot more but thats what i can think of right now(im at work)

Car gets tons of thumbs up. Great looking car.
Its a very clean/strait/and rust free car, Almost impossible to find this original and clean. And the are only getting rarer.

    Ok onto pics

Only flaw in the interior is the drivers seat.
Needs reupholstering, rest if the seats are mint.

Email me if your interested. Lookin for around $6000,
or less if you dont want the wheels.

Car is still for sale...i just want to reiterate that this car is 24 years old. Some people fall in love with the "look" and idea of having a mk2 but dont realize that at the end of the day its still a 24 year old car and unless its a full restoration, then there are always gonna have some minor age related problems to deal with.

That being said i want to have full disclosure on this car. So i dont waste mine or anyone elses time.
My car is not perfect. Its pretty much 90% completed. Some serious family issues came up and i had to competely put the project on hold. I havent finished everything i wanted.
It has a few minor things needed to be a completed great car.
i have already bought most of the parts needed to complete, just have not gotten to the point where i can have everything installed/completed.
If anyone is a mechanic, or mechanically inclined, this car would be a great car to get and finish. Essentially this car just needs someones time. Ive purchased all the parts, just needs someone to do the fun part.(installin everything)

I bought it for $3000 in march. It was a solid 88 gti 16v with no major rust or rot, that had a minor problem finding gears.. Not a transmission problem, just a shift linkage issue.

Immediately dropped it off to damon at German autosport, who did $1500 worth of work which included
-brand new USRT smart shift kit,
    -new shift linkage
    -new shifter assembaly
    -new brake master cyllinder
-new Mk4 rear brake upgrade which included: brand new mk4 calipers, mk4 drilled rotors, new brake pads, new brake lines
-also new intake boot, new k+n airfilter
    -new clutch cable

Once i got the car back i did some cosmetic stuff
-new dual round red stripe grill
    -new authentic gti16v grill badge
    -new 16v lower chin spoiler
    -new BFI headlights
    -new crosshair inner headlights
    -new tinted side markers

Also sourced a set of original vw BBS RMs refinished with gunmetal centers and 1.5" lips on the rears
Paired with bFi sourced nankang 165-45-15's all around which give it a little stretch on the rears.

The "bad" or areas that still need attention.

    To pass inspection it needs;
-a horn. Horn button works but not very loud. Probably needs new actual horn speaker.
    - ebrake cables (included) installed. Didnt have them at the time of the rear brake upgrade, but have since purchased, just not installed.
-high beam fuse. The high beam fuse is stuck in there. Not to great with electrics so i havent gotten to it yet. It melted due to a bad ground which i had fixed, but fuse is now stuck. I bought a whole new fuse panel with fuses, but then found out you could just install an in line fuse.. Have both(fuse panel, and inline fuse) just havent installed yet.

With those fixed it would pass inspection without a problem.
Or you could just register it as an antique,(it does qualify in ma) which you dont need an inspection sticker.

Other areas that could use attention if these things matter to you:

Headliner around sunroof could be cleaned up.
Drivers seat definitely needs reupholsetering, or new seat.
    Drivers door inner triangle cap.
The a/c didnt blow cold this summer, not 100% sure what it needs but everything is there. I like drivin with the sunroof open and windows down anyways.
-no radio installed currently.(included just not installed)
    -needs hood prop.
-could use a new rear strut. I was holding off to just get a set coilovers.
    -could use a new exhaust.

Other parts i have bought but havent installed yet.

-full ECS tuning suspension/steering refresh kit.
Includes control arms, driveshafts, ball joints, tie rods all new hardware and stress bolts etc.

-Full German Auto parts tune up kit. Still in box.
Including, new distributor, cap, rotor. (all bosch) new spark plugs. New fuel filter and accompanying o rings and seals.

-genuine Hella tinted and red rear tails.
-extra new set of smoked headlights. I bought these first, but preferred the clear ones.

-new pioneer DEH-6400BT cd player. Still in box.
-new custom shift boot with red stiching and surround panel.

-set of 14" winter wheels and tires.

Heres some more detailed pics of everything

    Radio not installed yet.

    momo race steering wheel

Some of the extra parts and Bentley manual! 😉

    Engine bay

Brand new radiator support with new hoodlatch

    clean crack free dash

    Headliner

Some of the new parts i havent installed yet

New ebrake cables and fuel filter

Car is always stored covered unless im driving it.
