Honestly...there are plenty more beautiful airplane and motorcycle engines than cars.
But..I guess I can pick a couple..I'd just do the blocks though.

Let's say you had a small automotive museum you would only show to friends who came to visit. In your garage is a small assortment of cars and then in the next room is your collection of automobilia. What engines would you put on pedestals for others to awe? Cost is not an option but space consideration is as you have room for only two or three engines to display.
Here are my favorites which strike me as being handbuilt art:
Renault Gordini V6 Turbo:
Any Lamborghini V12 with carbs:
Any Cosworth DF-series V8:
What about you?

Ford Taurus (Yamaha) SHO 24v V6
Alfa Romeo 24v V6
And probably a Bertils Counterflow 8v on vintage ITB's to stay true to my VW 8v roots.
As much as I admire the true works of art like Ferrari, I have a lot of respect for the more attainable motors that engineers managed to make look beautiful in the process.
Sorry for lack of pics, Will update later.![]()

this thread rocks.....
I like them all, I would enjoy owning a museum, and I could find joy with any motors, cleaned on a stand. from a 2.slow to a flat 12. I could enjoy looking at them all.

Porsche 4-cam carrera.
Damn near any radial engine. Most all are things of beauty. *sheds tear.
And a Dusenberg SJ.
There are wonderful engines from all over the world, not the least of which are Alfa Romeos and the Toyota 2000GT engine.
You'd be hard pressed to find another engine more beautiful in modern times than that Alfa.
This 2000GT is a good example.

Let's see... I have the United States, Germany, Italy and Japan covered, what about the French or the British? Are there some good examples of those? I'm especially weak on my French cars, as there aren't very many here in the U.S.
Come to think of it, England deserves to be in there for the first jet engine!

Napier Deltic. Looks somewhat like a V12 on the outside, wonderfully more complex on the inside. I would have to elect for a cutaway model.
[Edit: It is automotive related because you could use a car to get to the station....]
