I have had the car for 6 months now and been doing work to it on a fairly steady pace. Bought the car due to a 120mile round trip commute I now have for work on most days. I went from working on mostly older American muscle with the exception of an IS300 I used to race. Any vehicle I have ever had has somehow gotten out of hand. I swore I wasn't going to do that to this car because it was my commuter car. So here I am finally making a build tread the day before the car gets a nice new APR K04.

I am going for more of a sleeper look with the car. Let me know what you think and any suggestions are welcome.

2012 Candy White GTI Autobahn DSG

    Mods done so far:
    LED Tail Lights
    Rear View Camera
Tint 20% on all windows but windshield
    Boost Gauge and Vent Mount
    APR Carbonio Stage 1+2
    APR Intercooler
    APR Turbo Back Exhaust
    APR K04
    Rev E Red Coil Packs
    Forge Diverter Valve

BFI Stage 2 Torque Arm Insert
BFI Catch Can and Integrated Engineering PCV delete with custom hoses
VWR BBK w/ RBF 600 fluid

    Mods planned:

Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit and urethane bushings all around (have them just not on the car yet)
    HPA DSG Tune
    Water Meth (probably Snow Performance)
Osir Carbon Fiber Hood (painted white except for vents)
Light Weight Rims for the R Comp Tires (only when I race)
    TOP Pipe
    Charge Pipe

I will post some more pics when I have time.

As soon as my bank account recovers I will be getting the PSS10s and dropping it. Not going super low on this one but it definitely needs a drop soon. Hopefully in the next 2 months.

    Nice ride

How's the fitment on the turboback? I love APR's turboback but the fitment problems scare me.

It takes a little time to get it right but it isn't bad. I do have a lift so I could adjust it with the car up at eye level. I love the exhaust. Zero drone and quiet when not getting on it and it screams when you pound it. I would definitely recommend it.

Behind schedule on the turbo install. Some other projects got in the way and I had work today. Hopefully I will get it done by tonight. Tomorrow at the latest.

Dubb I am almost at 20K and I got it at the end of Jan. I think you will always want to do more to the car because there is so much that you can do. I am not doing sound in the car because I don't want to add more weight. I have done the over the top sound systems and I am sort of over that now. I see you are in Annapolis. If you ever need to get your car on a lift or need some tools let me know.

k04 is in the car. Going to use my commute this week as a break in/shake down to make sure everything is hooked up properly and then I will really test her out this weekend. I can already hear the diverter valve more. Has anyone used a strictly vacuum actuated DV? I am looking into some of the ones used on the higher boost Audi application.

Went ahead and ordered the Forge DV. Should have it on either this weekend or next depending on when it gets delivered. Still taking it easy on the car until after work on Friday when I plan on really letting it breathe.

Installed the new rev E red coil packs. Haven't driven it much yet but the surging seems to be better. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to install the Forge DV. I am waiting until H2O to get any new parts but for now the car is running great.

Finally got the diverter valve in and worked out a deal for a set of used PSS10s but they won't be on until after H2O. Hope to do the rear sway and the engine and trans mounts at the same time.

I picked up a full set of BFI motor and trans mounts as well as an APR rear sway bar at H2O. Always nice to get some great deals on parts but I also had a lot of fun meeting new people and seeing some amazing cars. Since this is my first VW, this was my first H2O. I had a great time and it was awesome getting to put some faces to the names I have seen on here.

I should also have my PSS10s soon thanks to a trade with a great friend. I can't wait to have the suspension to go with the power I already have.

Got the PSS10s installed and the APR rear sway. Driving it this week to see where it settles and then I will fine tune it sat when I do the mounts. It has already dropped a bit from this picture. Definitely has a much stiffer ride and hold the road better.

Finally got the stage 2 torque arm insert and stage 1 motor and trans mounts in. Def helps to keep the tires planed but I still need to get better rubber. The WALK kit is on the way along with a ton of parts for my buddies 2013.

Everything is here for me to get this PCV delete/Catch Can setup done tomorrow. Been blowing too much oil into my intake track for my liking. Also doing spark plugs. Might do a bunch of bushings I have too depending on how my other jobs for tomorrow go.

Any tips on alignment / install ?

I've spent 2 days messing around with it (one on the ground, another using a lift) and it seems like I keep making it worse . Having a shop give it shot before I go complain to APR to get the issue resolved.

The right tip hangs way to low and further out then the left side. I did follow the install guide, but idk if i have a defective unit

It's recommended to keep the W/M injection about 24" before the Throttle body, your best bet is the BSH Throttle body pipe as it has a W/M bung with optional block of plate.

    Loving the build!

Biggest tip as I have done a few of the APR exhausts now is to not try and get it perfect. You will drive yourself nuts and once the car is on the ground and you aren't laying on the ground unless it is really off you won't notice it. I light up the pass side tip to where I want it and make everything except the drives side tip snug. Then light up the drivers tip to get it level with the other. This tip seems to always rotate up when you tighten the clamp with an impact so start with it lower then you think you need it. After you get them sitting at the same height you can adjust the pass side in and out to get them as close as possible.

You could also have a defective unit. **** happens and it sucks but if you do I am sure APR will get it straightened out for you. If you want PM me and I'll give you my cell number so you can text me some pics to see if I can spot anything.

That is true, it is recommended to keep the injector about that far in front of the TB unless you can get it just after the TB. Spraying to close into the TB can cause it to malfunction plus it can mess with the atomization. You also get a different effect by spraying pre and post throttle body. An ideal setup to gain the most benefits of cooling, octane boost and even cylinder distribution is a multi port system post throttle body as well as a single injector post intercooler. The next step down from this would be a single injector post throttle body in a spacer with the 2nd injector just post intercooler. There is a lot more to it then that but that's the basics of injector placement.

The other concern is plastic parts vs. methanol.

There has been a lot of concern from those running W/M with the TB getting stuck/deteriorating/broken due to the W/M having an adverse effect on the plastic on the TB.

SoCal you are correct. That's why I like to get as far away from the TB as possible and get the first injector just after the intercooler. Are you running any type of W/M yourself?

Been researching it for about a year lol. I've always been a bit afraid of using it but I get a LOT of heatsoak here in California and so I'm always considering it.
