That's the only one I know of, but when I used that DIY more than a year ago the pictures were still up. Pictures certainly helped too... hopefully somebody else will know of one.

I can't speak for the OP, but for me the main reason was so that I could drive the card hard right before leaving the car, without worrying about the oil trapped in the turbo getting too hot and breaking down. Also helps if you're in a hurry and want to lock the car but keep the engine running.

Over time my driving has mellowed out and so now I often hit the "off" button on the turbo timer maybe 20sec. after I finish driving/take the key out.

Pretty much what he said above... Red hot turbo + shutting car down = insane turbo wear...

When an engine is under load, any load, even if its 1st gear 2,500k RPMs, the friction in the engine produces more heat then if it were at say, an at idle, which is about 700 or so. When a car is at idle, after a long / hard drive, its actually cooling down quite a bit, to give you an example, let your car idle to fully warm up, this will demonstrate the lack of heat being produced when no load is present. i bet it would take close to 15 minutes.

and thanks a for finding those man! my dumbass fails at searching
