Why did mexico and europe get the better looking bumper ? Is there a reason for the us version ? I guess its a good thing that our south of the border neighbors have it. Might have to make a few calls

Ecs sells the 5n2 r-line front bumper. My feeling is that the flares will be need to be swapped as well.

I've been trying to find the part numbers for the 18° "sport" bumper for a while with no luck.

I have to agree with you, I really like the Mexico version front bumper. It reminds me of the Toureg front end

If you find out how to procure one, let us know what the price would be and where we can buy it. I'm very interested to know that info!

ROW gets a choice of two bumpers, we only get one. We also don't get a ton of other features in exchange for the lowest price in the world.

My sole complaint with the '12+ Tig we have here in the US is that sometimes when standing even a few feet in front of it, you can't see anything there where that 28* angle is, which makes it look like something is really missing/wonky with the front end.

I would guess better approach angles for actually using it off road. Something almost no one in the USA would do

That was the reason, but the more practical use of the 28* bumper is less worry about breaking things when you pull up to a snowbank that is hiding a big curb or rock....most of my previous vehicles suffer some minor damage in the winter because of ice that looks like snow, or snow covering something equally hard.

The different bumper cover is cool, but that new "Family" grille is stinkin' FUGLY. I'm so glad I have an '09, before the "Americo-homogenization" of the VW family.

I don't think the '12 grill is THAT awful, but I do think the Mexico style is better looking. I painted the chrome on my grill which is an improvement. I might still seek alternate bumper cover in the future though.

      Cheaper.
I also think that Tig looks too nose heavy with the other bumper. I like our bumpers, they give the Tig it's rugged look IMHO.
