    so i found this car:http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...211472513.html
and i need to know if it's worth buying. hes asking $2250 for it and he hasn't given any info about what engine he's running or km's or even if it's standard. I've emailed him asking those and other questions, so lets just assume it's standard, the engine's stock and there's no mechanical problems. with that, and the paint job being as it is, is it too much? what should i offer him for this 1982 rabbit?

    thanks for reading this!

    its been modded

probally worth it if the parts are in good condition

.......what do you want to use it for?

    racing?.......

$2000 or a little over is reasonable if its got upgrades

    i see
    rollcage
    racing seats
    good wheels
    extended flared fenders
    body kit
    performance exhaust (likely)

im going out on a limb to suggest YES ITS MANUAL
unfortunately those fenders look to be square modified to rounds
maybe some hack and slash in that area....just paint it

looking at the pics, I would definitely not assume it's a stock motor. Very hard to tell it's value on pics alone, but looks like it could really be a good deal. all depends on what's in it.

it's got an 89 scirocco engine in it, no specification if it's 8v, 16v etc.. yes it is manual, and i want it for a show car and something to build, paint, personalize. I would take the roll cage out, put in back seats maybe.. but this is so tempting i just have to get it!

ya i haven't gotten good info because this guys mom was selling it for hime while he was away.
luckily he's back in town and he can tell me more about the car.

i will be sanding and repainting the tail lights.. they are probably the worst feature on the car.

Would I buy it for $2250? The answer is no especially if there is any hidden rust.

    Good luck, WWR.

I've decided to make the 1.5hour trip to go see it on the weekend since im busy with classes this week. If everything is spick n span i'm gonna give him an offer under his asking price, maybe even low ball him and take it from there.

long story short i went to view this car with two 'mechanically inclined' buddies of mine, and we found it has a 2.0l 85 scirocco 16v in it, fenderflares, roll cage, and sparco sets with these super unique tan leather and grey fabric seat covers on te sparco seats. the body work is cracking aboe both rear fenders, the tranny is leaking and needs a new gasket, and the temp and rpm gauges nee replacing, same goes with the front left HID headlight and waterpump. the seller didt know any of this when purchasing te vehicle, its the same as it was when he bought it, and spent over $2000 on it. i told him id go as high as $1300, duw to my need to replace a ton f thing including the windshield and paint, and hes not going lower than $1650 since he doesnt want to lose money.. but imho he deserved to, buying a car with no idea of the amount of work needed to bring it backto tip-top shape.

i didnt buy it, but i told him if he doesnt fid anyone who wants to buy it for $1650 (which is likely to happen) he can always call me back and id buy it for $1300 **fingers crossed

now i'm looking for a standard mk1 or mk2 golf/rabbit/ gti/ diesel or mk1 jetta in running condition for under $2500 in Vancouver, BC or not out of driving distance with a record of aircare

feel free to pm me if you have one for sale, not looking for any caddy's. i wouldnt mind an e30 couple standard either

Looks wise i'm digging the Fuuuuuck out of this man.
Other then the 100% incorrect way to fun single round fender. Cabby fenders would have been a better idea then trying to shave the late westy corner blinkers

Going to disagree. Nothing wrong with working with what you have and he does have a round core support. Once it was painted, you'd never tell the difference. Sure, buying new fenders would have been easier but I don't think there's anything wrong with how he did the fenders. I'm guessing he probably already had the flairs done to that set of fenders and then decided to switch to rounds or something. Cutting and patching those small corners is a hell of a lot easier than swapping the flairs to another set of fenders.

I can understand that. I would also shave the corners if i had to pick from that or redo the flairs. Just looks like it's stuffed with mud.

so.. im feeling hella weak right now.. no other classic mk1's or 2's available, imma offer him 1500 hundred today and see what he says. I'm only worried most about the ****ing windshield.. its gonna be pricy seeing as if i buy it ill have 1k left to spend until a couple months, the windhshield could runn 300 if i cant find and pull one myself.

Any videos or tips on how to pull a vw mk1 windshield if its glued, and if its not?
