According to my repair manual a "special tool" is needed to compress the spring while measuring the min and max movement. Then it gives a number to set it by. Mine was working fine before I rebuilt it, so I didn't change anything. I will try to scan in that page out of the book and post it over the weekend.

09A proper reduction band adjustment needed

How loose or tight should my reduction band be adjusted?... Does it go by the nut torque lbs.?... Is it a distance or by a gap measurement?... and what measurement would any of these be?... Thanx
