Sora STI levers.... seriously.

For me it's the 2013 Trek Fuel EX 8. I had a budget Specialized Camber rental in Whistler a few weeks back and it worked so well for such a cheap bike, that it gave me the bike fever. I realized I'm not very satisfied how the suspension on my '07 Santa Cruz Heckler works and I want something better for next season.
I read good things about the revised Fuel EX range and I don't really know what other options there'd be. Maybe Cannondale's new Trigger when they reveal the full lineup. But for now, I'm interested in the Fuel EX 8. Just needs better cranks/BB and the other (black/blue/white) color option.

Since I can't find a Molteni orange in my size, I've been thinking of a 30th AE:

I was looking at these the other night. Why is every color paintjob hideous? These are Colnagos, they're supposed to be beautiful!
I've been considering upgrading my road bike to one of these, but I'm fooling myself if I think I'm going to be able to afford it. Has anyone seen a real price yet?

I'm going to get something 29er, hardtail, and carbon, just haven't narrowed down a brand yet. I'd be all about the specialized lineup, but I'd really like a fox fork since that's what I'm used to on my current bike. All the specialized stumpy HT's that I'm interested in the have all got rockshox and I still have not ridden one that was setup right. Every test ride I've done on a RS fork so has been wayy harsh on my wrists.

I've been thinking about the Raleigh Tripper as a commuter. I walked into a shop to browse, and started chatting with the staff about my ideal commuter: Single speed, room for fat 700x32 tires, disc brakes, braze-ons for fenders and a rack, and flat bars.
They pulled up the Tripper, and we all looked at it like "damn!". None of us had even heard of it until then, and they were a Raleigh dealer. I could do without the 3-speed hub, and I'm not a fan of the one-piece bar/stem combo, but everything else sounds great. Even the steampunk color scheme is pretty neat.

Do you mean the "previous solid color" blue, red, white, black, and orange?
...because Colnago has done worse with the paint schemes.
I figure that I'd go with black Master since I don't think I can make the witch to carbon, and this is what I'm working with now (PITA to color match surprisingly):

Surly's newwwww Krampus
and/or some kinda disc braked 'cross bike

While I love the paint on that surly, I'm not so sure I "get it". I love 29ers, but the Krampus seems like it would magnify all the faults of a 29er and not really offer appreciable benefits.

New 2013 Focus Izalco Pro looks mighty fine, as does Cayo Evo, which gets 2012 Izalco frame.
Taking on them mountains. One hill at a time.

i started a thread on purchasing a new 29er. someone suggested looking at the 27.5/650b and i am hooked. riding a small to medium frame, 29ers don't feel right to me. so i'm also in the process of purchasing some 650b stan's crest wheels for my epic carbon. i guess i'm also looking forward to seeing some SRAM rise 40 wheels in 650b.

Not enough spare cash for a new bike, but I might swap out the older 105 group for the newer Force setup on my CAAD9.

So it's basically a flat bar furley? I'd rather get the furley and convert to flatbar myself. Drop bar parts are much more expensive than flat bar parts.
OH, it's a 3 speed? Cool. The furley/roper combo are awesome. Haven't quite gotten myself to buy one just yet, but I've certainly been spreading the gospel.

Wow. I totally overlooked the Furley. That's more what I'm looking for. And for a commuter, I could deal with the drops with the in-line cross levers for a while. And like you said, a flat bar and levers are pretty easy to come by. I don't have a need for a 3-speed at the moment.
