My 2.0 GTI has developed an annoying vibration/shudder under acceleration at speed.

It only happens at speeds between 65 & 75 or so.

If the car is in a steady state cruise at that speed, and the car accelerates, I get a shake in the steering wheel, and can feel it in the body as well. The vibration disappears once I get past 75 or so. This only happens when the car is under acceleration load.

I've rulled out drive axle/CV joint problems (replaced both of them under warranty), and pretty sure that it is not a wheel balance problem (roadforce balanced, no vibration at steady-state or coasting speeds). I don't think there are balljoint problems either. The CV axles nut, and mounting bolts are all tightened to spec. 4 wheel alignment to stock US specs.

No bent rims, in fact had the same problem with both 17" and 18" rims.

    What about motor mount/dog-bone issues?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

well i had the same issue... and the solution was simple...

I have a carbonio intake stage 1 & 2, you have to make sure the stage 2 pipe is not close the anything... if it is the minute you step on it will make the car vibrate like no ones business

I had a little bit of that before the carbonio and it was a combination of wheel spacers in the front and need for an alignment.

    good luck...

Good ideas, but I have a stock 2.0 engine, no spacers, and just had the alignment done.

I'm gonna swap tires front to back and see if that makes any difference.

Wheel balance seems to be the winner. Moved the tires onjust the left side, problem went away. Now to get tire rebalanced.
