So my mothers boyfriends brother passed away. He owned a 1990 Baja 196 ESS. Very well taken care of but stored outside under a cover. Graphics on side are kinda faded and interioir is kinda wrinkly(all this can be changed in the future). They offered it to me for $3000. Low hours. Has the Yamaha 5.8 V8. Is this a decent price for the boat. I know nothing about the baja's.

thanks in advance. I tried google but can't find any real reviews on the boat

is the outdrive Yamaha? if so the parts chain is getting thin for those. My dad just got rid of a late 90s kayot deckboat with yamaha outdrive. for the most part trouble free but when he needed parts it started to get to the point of having to track them down.

buy the freakin thing. that's a deal. be prepared for the associated costs - get it tuned up and looked over WELL before you take her out. good luck!

That Yamaha drive is really a bummer. Good drive, but finding parts and service will be very hard, and fankly, I never thought they were much better than the far more ubiquitous OMC Cobra on which it looked like it was based.
