I'm selling my Ginster Yellow base Harlequin. It has 134,000 miles on it and it is the Ginster Yellow base color. Asking $9000 for it. It is number 137 out of 200 according to rossvw.com. The car is in great condition mechanically and aesthetically, a lot of effort was put into keeping the paint in pristine condition with regular washing and waxing. Feel free to contact me with any specific questions you may have

No offense, but you might want to drop that price to about a third of what you are asking. You need to at least have the right color front bumper too. Good luck with sale but don't expect it to sell anytime soon for that price, if ever.

Sorry but normal boretex rules dont apply to this rare of a car he can name his own price... And although his price is high for an Internet sale he might get that depending on how many are available in his area and how bad someone wants it)

i was just stating the actual total number, he failed to mention that.

the rules of insanity apply, in my opinion. the guy is asking one of the highest prices i have seen for a stock harlequin in quite a long time, and his doesnt even have the correct color front bumper. The worst part is, the pistachio and chagall blue front bumpers only came on harlequins so good luck finding another. you could paint it, yes, but its still not original.

if this car was 100% original (wheels and everything), in mint condition, then he might find someone desperate enough to pay $12,500, but he doesnt have that, so its just insane to ask that much if he wants a chance at selling it.

all in all, just my opinion

That is an invalid argument. You would never know if it was factory or not. I could go out and take any bumper and paint it and put it on the car and you could not prove one way or the other that it was the one that came on the car.

Makes you wonder why it is incorrect though. Accident?

I'd rather have freshly sprayed pistachio front bumper anyway. It's a good chance to get euro bumpers. As far as it not being original.. it's a ****ing volkswagen golf. I mean, c'mon guys. Which goes for everyone.. including the whack-job op that think he's gonna get 12.5k for a harlequin.. if you get more than half that, pat yourself on the back.

I painted the bumper yellow because the yellow looks much better than the pistachio green. I still have the original steelies that came with the car if you really want those for some reason. Same with the original stereo. Sorry, but I did not put the original engine oil in a commemorative VW urn, so you are going to have to live without that. The multi lugs are going with it too, so have fun with that. The car is in incredible condition and was taken care of by an artist and an engineer for the past 12 years. I have been driving this car for most of my life and do not need to get rid of it to put food on the table and 12.5k is firm, so call me insane or a whack job but it does not change the price.

Clean interior, no rips or tears in the seats

Why didn't you keep the bumper pistachio and just do the grille yellow?

I want a yellow base bad, but dude, I'll probably die of old age before you get that for the car, sorry.

you guys crack me up... OP maybe if you keep driving it daily it will get wrecked, i'm sure the insurance company will give you 12.5+ for mismatched colored golf.

It's **** like this that has really started to ruin the market for these cars.

I never understood why people thought it made a difference if the car was male or female owned.. let alone their sexual preference. I'm pretty sure gays rip the same farts in the seats as heterosexuals.

Excellent condition minus the fact the bumper was repainted an needs painted to be correct, worn interior, 134k miles, a rust spot on the side of the car, which if there is rust there it is almost certain the underside is trash. You wnt 1k less than what the car was brand new. You will never sell it for close to what you are asking. Put it in the garage and let it finish rusting because with an assanine price like that, that's All that's going to happen.

My gf just paid 7,000 for a 2005 Golf in just as good of shape as this car, and it had less miles. And those wheels are ugly.

I never understood why people like these. Pick a color, pick two maybe. but more than two; that is just tacky. No offense meant, just my two cents.
Although, asking nearly r32 money. smh

Can someone explain why these are so loved?

They're "rare" because they weren't mass produced and they weren't mass produced because they didn't sell. Volkswagen dealerships typically used them as service vehicles and either ran them into the ground, or "invested" the money into spraying them one color and selling.

It's been 6 and a half months since original post. 2 questions (and I am a prospective buyer though not at that price):

-What is the best offer you have gotten?
-What are you realistically looking to get for this car?
