So I've had problems with the lower alternator belt backing out off and on. Noticed Friday evening as I was hunting down a weird noise (turned out to be a year-old wheel bearing eating itself, whole 'nother story) I noticed the bolt was backing out again. The alternator hadn't been complaining so I figured I'd tighten it tonite.

Well, the ball'n'chain gets all snippy this morning when I go to use her car to take the kids to sunday school, so I figure I'd adjusted the bearing, it'd get me there and back. So tonite I go to tighten the alternator bolt, and the **** thing is gone! The alternator ahsn't even moved - I guess I tightened the upper brace a bit too tight after adjusting it last time.

Gah, sure hope the stealership can find me one, or the local pick'n'pull has one.

A few years ago the alternator bolt backed out. I was stranded in a bad part of Newberry SC with no power. I ended up using ....of all things to temporarily fix the issue......zip ties. I used zip ties to pull and keep the alt. in place that night to get home after I got a jump.

No real need - the dealership found some in Dallas, at $4 a pop. I should buy two. It'll be in tomorrow morning. Just really crappy timing.

It'd be hard to find one with the long shoulders and allen hex head at Lowe's
