It's insane at WOT. But, believe it or not, at 80mph, no drone. Best of both worlds.

We're supposed to have some nasty weather for a week, but I will get a better outside video put together soon.

How long did you run with the Forge Twintercooler Scott? Did you notice any negative effects on the AC temperature or coolant temperature? These are my only concerns with the Forge unit because it is putting another layer in front of the AC condenser and the radiator. I don't use the AC much but it is useful once in a while.

Are we thinking that the Forge+stock system is sufficient for Stage 2+? I'm sure I'd go with the APR for Stage 3 but I'm not planning to take my mods that far.

The Forge was on for a short time, but I had my Scangauge II plugged in and did a lot of comparisons to stock, while it was on. I'm pretty sure I shared those numbers in the Forge Twintercooler thread.

With the Forge on, and my car Stage 1+, the intake temps dropped 10-20 degrees on average. I was impressed with it......... It's funny you asked about the A/C condenser and radiator, because it was cool enough this morning for me to have my a/c off and I noticed my intake temps were staying lower than with the a/c on. The intake temp, with the a/c off, dropped 6-7 degrees, within 1/4 mile of turning the a/c off.
Considering that my intercooler is behind the a/c condenser, this is proof that there's a negative effect when the condenser is doing it's thing and acting as a heat exchange unit.
Unfortunately, I didn't ever try this with the Forge, but I would expect similar results, considering the stock intercooler was still being used.

So take a look at the following pictures and you'll see the intake temps compared to ambient temp. The lower intake temp is obviously the time the a/c was off.

      A/C ON:

      A/C OFF:

I did this over and over again, for about 15 miles of my drive. Same speed and the only difference was that the ambient temp went to 80 degrees over time. The relationship to ambient was the same though, 6-7 degrees cooler intake temps with a/c off.

The APR core is substantially larger and more efficient than the stock core. I think it is probably a great choice for > stage 2 applications. I think it's actually probably a good upgrade for even a stock golf R, but I wouldn't say the Forge Twintercooler is not a viable upgrade.

hopefully, APR will post the data they shared with me. I didn't get the impression they had anything against Forge, so I'm not sure how they are going to address the results.

to answer your question, no I didn't notice any negative effects with a/c and or water temps. and it's been hot as a fox in a forest fire out here.

Cool Scott, thanks for the info. You've been helpful!

I'm going Stage 2+ next week and will be installing my Forge Twintercooler. Hoping it meets expectations!

I can't see you having any issues with it. Are you at Stage 1 or 1+ right now?

Stage 1+ right now. I've got a lot of mods in line to be put on the car by GMP Performance in Charlotte. It will all end up on my thread in about two weeks time.

Cool. I was pretty pleased with Stage 1+, compared to stock. To me, that's how the car should have been sold to us.

I can tell a difference in the morning, when the engine bay isn't heat soaked. Car is quick quick in the AM! can't wait for it to drop down into the 50' & 60's here....woohoo!

I removed the clamps from the rear tips of the APR RSC exhaust, and tack-welded them in place.

My wife drove the car the other day, and I was following her. Gave me a chance to see the car being driven and I noticed right away how visible the clamps and their bolts/nuts were. So, they is gone now.

Yeah, they are super easy to see when they are mounted like that, thought it might be a clearance issue as well. I moved the nut/bolt section of those clamps to the top so they are hidden.

Thanks....I enjoy it more each day....It won't be the fastest R out there, for sure, but my goal was to have a very quick, but refined, daily driver. I doubt I will ever take this car to a serious track event, so probably will not end up doing a BBK, or very expensive suspension set-up.

From a daily driver standpoint, it really feels awesome. Mild when driven that way, but a beast when the throttle is wide open.

I have taken quite a few of my friends for rides and every single one of them was impressed. Some were shocked, some were scared sh!t-less, and some laughed out loud with giddiness.

I can't wait to get some better video from outside and inside the car. I think we're going to have some decent weather today, through sunday, so I might be able to make it happen.

Man, that sounds like a perfect setup. Any chance you'll be down in Miami any time soon? I'd be willing to trade a beer or two for a ride the next time you're around!

LOL, if I'm down there, I'll hit you up. Sister is an attorney in Plantation, so that usually as far south I will go.
I imagine, with as many R's as there are running around down there, Chris Green will have one or more of them over 400hp real soon. Have you been to USP Morsports? Lots of fast cars come out of that place!

Er, I meant I've only heard good things about Chris Green. I decided ages ago to go at least 2+. It's only now I'm thinking about 3+. And I'd meet up anywhere south of West Palm to check it out.

LOL, yeah I know you meant Chris Green (his shop), was just addressing your HPFP and reflash.

I wish Chris's shop was closer, but we have PRS up here in Orlando (Sanford) and they do some pretty major stuff on a daily basis. Good guys too.

Can you take it down the strip?

I know I know the R is not about straight line but has a US R gone below 12.9 yet?
