Thread: Constructive criticism welcome!

  1. 08-20-2012 09:12 PM #1
Alright so been puttin this golf together for a couple months now, it was wrecked in the front (minor collision) picked it up for like 500$ runs great, I own a body shop in Tarpon springs florida so I decided to put it together how I wanted it, Like the title says constructive criticism is welcome, no smart ass remarks, I really would like to see what some of you vortexers have to say and what kind of ideas you can throw out there for me, cars not done yet, still needs a lot like all new suspension, wheels, turn and fogs and a VR swap haha, but for now i'm sticking to the 2.slow till it croaks (it's got 140k so it's gonna be a while) here are a few pictures, I'd like to know what you guys would recommend, wheels, suspension ect.. here we go

I agree, but I want to get the new interior in there before I get rid of the tint, the emblems I've started to grow annoyed of as well, I did it on purpose its a thing that's popular in brazil, but honestly it's getting to be an eye sore.

keep the tint, lose the eyebrow.

get some bumper lights either oem all clear or a nice tinted set off ebay. The quality isn't top notch but for the price they look ok.

the tails look great. Nice job painting them.
I'd also agree to fix the emblems and the missing molding as well.

Paint looks good. I love white cars when done nice and clean. Of course lower it and if you going to keep those wheels get some spacers. check out www.adaptecspeedware.com they make quality spacers and supply all the hardware.

    Good luck!

Thank you! The molding was put on already, sorry the pictures are from a couple weeks ago, the wheels i'm going to put some spacers on there until I can afford some nice BBS's, and yeah as I said before the emblems are becoming an eye sore so I'll try to get on that next. thanks for the compliments, the paint job came out clean as hell, looks great! thanks again!

If I get another MK3 in the future it will be white. Love the white. I would get OEM textured side strips and texture the top of front and rear bumper cover, yellow OEM fog mod, smoke the indicator lights and middle dummies, and joey mod the round in the dual chambers yellow, cheap and easy and IMO looks so nice with white.

And you're well ahead of many of us if you own an auto body shop...

yeah, anything that has to do with the outside, I'm equipped to do (Besides powder coating, have someone that will do it for me though) thank you for the compliments, and yeah the fog mods I'm really considered, I want to smoke the turns and the middle dummies as well, just need to buy some fogs and install them first, I got a whole other thread open about that, I've decided to wire them correctly, as you can see in the pic I put the dual bulb 2 bar front end on it, so I need to go back and find a complete wiring harness for the fogs so I can attach it to the dual bulb setup i have on there right now because I only got pig tails on the headlights, not the complete harness unfortunately. I'm not sure if I want to joey mod the headlights I'm gonna look it up and see how I like it, definitely gonna consider it though, thank you for the great opinions! I want to throw some 17x7.5's or 8's on it and buy the suspension for it, the stock suspension is squeeky and annoying anyways because of the fact that the car was sitting for a while before I bought and remodeled it.

lmfao @ the lawnmower swap, and i tried the black on the filler bar under the grill, but it just looked out of place IMO, I liked the black 2 bar with the matching white filler bar, looked cleaner, I did try it though, and I am thinking about repainting the side moldings black, not sure yet but I'll keep vortex informed!

I was thinking about buying them, but I'm gonna try to spray them with some black accented clear coat and see if i can get them black. if not, i'll just buy some pre-smoked markers

You can get a good set for like $20 on eBay. I highly recommend the ones from ECStyling. They come with a lifetime warranty and they're DARK. Also they're clean and smooth-looking, they don't have a brand printed on the marker.

Honestly the car looks solid and a great start.

    1.) fix front emblem
2.) na smoked fogs and turns
    3.) h&r's
4.) whatever wide wheel you prefer and your golden.

The first thing that caught my eye is the side skirts. White cars with white skirts look weird, especially since the lip and bottom of the rear bumper are black. And as said before, black moldings and bumper tops would set it off nicely.

Thank you guys for all the great comments and ideas! So here's my plans for the future, gotta work at it semi-slowly but owning a body shop and getting things at cost, I can pull this little guy together pretty quickly, we'll see how it goes! Now, as I said yesterday, got the new seats today! great junkyard find, paid 100$ for all of them, theirs 1 tiny rip in the drivers seat, looks like someone may have been wearing something with a button or somethin of the sort, the seats were dusty but I gave em a good deep cleaning (thank god for super clean) next thing I got to do is flip those emblems right side up because they're annoying me, after that I'll be getting my new exhaust, I found a pace setter exhaust on amazon (I know lame I'm using amazon) but it seems like a good deal, and I'm not looking for anything insanely fancy, I wanted to go with Magnaflow but 230$>440$ ya know? It's a non catback exhaust here's a link to it, let me know what you think :

    http://www.amazon.com/Setter-88-1343...I1YHZY76RHTLZT

I'm still having the bogging issue, but for some reason now it's only happening when the cars warm, so we'll see I still have a few more things to try, if I can't figure it out myself I'll ask for some help from you guys. Soon I'll be looking for some suspension goodies, I'd love to go air but that'll only be in the future right now I need some suggestions as to what has worked for you guys to get desired ride height, I want it low low, I live in florida so most of the roads are smooth sailin so I can slam it without many worries. here's some pictures of the seats :
    Photobucket
    Photobucket

they're still wet in the picture from the washing, but they're gettin nice and clean, keep throwin me your guys' suggestions, I like your ideas, and I've decided to go white on black, I'm gonna look for the black bumper top moldings, if you guys have any links to good deals on that kind of **** let me know, I need to get rid of the eyebrow, not only is it annoying to drive with that thing in my way (I'm 6'3'') but it's a huge eye sore, once again thanks for your guys' support!
