No feelings were hurt. I was just expecting more of a welcome.
I'm transferring over from another great auto forum from my recently sold vehicle and have heard great things about vwvortex. Unfortunately, it hasn't lived up to the hype yet.

Geesh, someone is butthurt. Don't read too much into people comments. It's your car and if you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks.
I thought it looked good hence my.

Hello and welcome! As Preppy said, this forum is on a slow side but the crowd is great. You will seldom see trolling or dumb responses unlike some other forumsAs long as you show respect you'll get great feedback.

Oh and does anyone know which size spacers would be best to bring my wheels flush with the fenders? I was thinking 10mm would do it, and heard I would not need to use longer bolts either going that size.
#17
They are stock 16" wheels, and stock tires. Per VW's website they are "6.5J X 16'' alloy wheel w/ 215/65 R16 H, all season tires"
Thank you for the tip, I appreciate it. I will measure everything this weekend. I'm basically just looking for more of a wider stance. I do not want for the wheels to stick out past the fender, that's why I was thinking 10mm was a conservative approach.

Plasti-dipped emblems. I love this stuff!
Tomorrow I'm going to plasti-dip the front grill and emblem, as well as getting my taillights tinted.

Plasti dipped the front grill and had my tint guy use laminx on the taillights and a few other places.

Props for doing your own thing but I'm not much into the whole blacked out theme on any car. Appears you did a good job on the tails tho. What you use?

Nice job on customizing and making your 'Tig your own.

We reside in Southbury, with our now, 2012 Tiguan SE 4Motion.
We've got lot's of yard here, a great place for photos on a nice day, as well as space to have a VW meet and greet.

Can anyone confirm if it is completely necessary to remove the entire front bumper when removing the front grill? I thought I read about another 2012 Tiguan owner who said he needed to remove his entire front bumper when repainting the grill.
I didn't completely like how the plasti dip came out on my front chrome grill strips and was going to have them wrapped in vinyl, however it looks easier to wrap them when removed, and I have an idea that with the grill removed the chrome strips will be able to be popped out individually.
If not, I'm just going to lay the vinyl right over the strips and hope I can tuck in the edges and cover them completely.

Great job on your Tig. I really like black and the blacked out theme. I did a similar theme in dark grey because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep a black paint job as pristine as I would like.
When I was painting my grill, I was not able to find a way to detach the grill from the bumper (but that's not to say there isn't one I couldn't find!).
What did you decide to do on the wheel spacers? When my car gets back from the shop (a deer run-in), I want to do the wheel spacers as well and I was wondering what size to get. I know DT EXP did spacers but he has rubbing issues. He went with 12.5mm on front and 15mm on rear (and I believe his Tig is lowered).

Thanks dude I appreciate it. And yes, I'm finding it very difficult keeping a black vehicle clean for longer then two days lol.
I actually was messing around with the grill tonight and also couldn't figure out a way to detach the grill itself without risking snapping one of the many plastic tabs that fit into the bumper. I'm attempting to wrap the chrome strips in vinyl and thought it might be a lot easier with them removed. We shall see how that goes tomorrow.
Ouch sorry about the deer mishap, that never ends well for either party. I ended up with a pair of 20mm spacers for the rear wheels and I'm hoping to install them within the next couple of weeks. They actually just got delivered todayI'm not lowered at all so am hoping I don't have any clearance problems.
