As far as series finales go, this was a damn good one.

What I found interesting was that Michael sort of seemed like Steve Carrell, not Michael. Grey hair, minimal jokes, better dressed, etc.

The writers seem to be giving the impression that life in the sticks with Holly and kids has let him become who he really was all along (no hair dye, enjoying life without compensating for insecurities, etc.)...

I took it as the writers not having Steve come in and steal the finale from everyone (who stuck with the show beginning to end). His very presence was enough, the 1 "that's what she said" was all that was really necessary and they didn't over-Micheal Scott it.

Totally agree. In the end the show wasn't about him anymore. It was about all the people at the Scranton branch who were there from the beginning so it wouldn't have been right for him to be anything but an extra.

Having him say "that's what she said" as his first line was perfect.
