I know what your thinking. Why in the world would you swap a 450HP VR6-T engine for an Audi TT 180HP. Well it was a almost very easy. I've had it for 8 years of countless hours...... 4 transmissions.....you know. The biggest thing which its crazy it was also my daily driver being that I'm in the NAVY the luxury of NAVY a third car when bouncing from here to there it becomes too much. I had to make a decision to get rid of the Corrado (Not an Option!!! I told the wife) or get a fun engine that can be reliable and I can have fun with. I looked at the the 1.8T and it became obvious the direction i was going. So I found a 1.8T from an Audi. I wanted to share my this with you guys and hopefully it can help anyone.

    just picked it up.

    It will be missed!!.

    It fits.

I know someone else who just recently went VRT to 1.8T... But his build is a bit crazier.

Too bad the 1.8T motors are cluttered as hell.

I sold the old turbo set up but I still have a VR6 head with titanium valve springs that I wanna get rid off. I'm also going to see if I could use the wife's camara.

If you have a VR6 like myself all you need is the ABA rear mount bracket, TDI front bracket P/N: 1H0 199 273B,
and use your transmission bracket. The down pipe fits perfect depending what motor you get. I got an ATC from an Audi TT 180hp. I'll be posting some new pictures tonight.

It's pretty cool to see that the swap works with parts that already exist. Who would have thought?

The corrado bay is close if not identical to a mk3 bay...

I used a mk3 aba rear mount, and the according 020 front mount that i re-drilled.

    Works a treat!

Btw op, keep up the good work! I took alot of heat for pulling my VR and putting a 1.8t in... Things seemed to have calmed down about that. =]

    Thanks
I love my VR6 but I love the car more. It can't be a garage queen. I have to drive it everyday. I just won't kill as much gas as before that's for sure. Man cause driving my wife's 2012 Dodge Durango RT is making a whole in my pocket on gas.

I spotted that Diesel Front bracket. Looks like you have done your homework

How close is the hood to that Throttle Cable bracket?

Just curious because on my 2020 (in my Mock engine Bay) the one I made just looks like it sticks up awfully high. Granted it will be a bit closer than yours due to the ABA block. Could be deceiving because there are no fenders but if you could let me know, that would be cool.

The bracket has about an 2 inches from the hood. I ordered this bracket. http://www.034motorsport.com/034efi-...gti-p-471.html . I really like it.

I got it running!!!Right now I have the MAF right next to the throttle body. I'm going to rent a 2 wheel dolly to tow it to the shopso they can make intercooler piping. I used a 1998 Passsat 1.8T harness with ECU. I used a haness from the junkyard and removed F, G1, G2, OBD2 plugs out of it and fused it to the AEB harness. Its nice!!!. It idles really well.

    I used this site. http://myweb.whitman.syr.edu/srotblat/swap/

1.8t's make great power.. but as mentioned before, that motor is an eyesore. I know there isn't much you can do to clean it up (plus like you mentioned it's a daily) Good work man, if I ever went a different route I would go 1.8t as well but I would also mate up that o2m..

I did very little to mine and it cleaned up nicely, it was a daily but I'm sure with time I could have tucked much more away. For some reason, corrado engine bays always look like such a mess.

I had to get a gas saver engine for my daily commute. I do stare at it and miss my VR6-T. You'll love that engine trust me.
All u can do to the 1.8T is add all those mk4 engine covers. Lol

I love it. Its really easy to wire up. Because its a VR6 fan the engine temperature doesn't pass 185F. I'm servicing the A/C this week. Can't wait.

Was having trouble with the engine coolant temperature indicating high about 235F but 185F on the VAGcom. I was suggested to use resistors but instead I use the 1997 ABA temperature sensor. I swapped the AEB blue 4 prong for the ABA Black 4 prong with yellow stripe and it indicates perfectly! Still waiting for the clutch master cylinder that comes in on Monday. I'll take it on a very nice ride . This is some info for the readers.
