Never heard of the military giving severance pay. You may or may not be eligible for disability, but if you are being chaptered out, I doubt it.

I am getting chaptered out of the army under chapter 5-17 for depression and stress, and I got suicidal. I haven't got my actual diagnosis yet but im wondering what the chances are I will/can get severance pay and or disability.

Well for the navy you get severance if you dont rank up for a certain amount of time, about 18k for e4 at 8 years and like 36k for e5 at 14 yrs, as for disability if the army caused it and it's legit then you should get some disability pay.

Some people don't suck, but just didn't study for advancement exams, once you E6 or higher your safe for the 20yr retirement unless you fail PFA or got in trouble and reduced rank. Some rates "jobs" only advance like 10% of that rank, people get pass but not advanced point on the test, but the point is, the navy is all about the tests, you could be the hardest worker and still be E3 after 4 years, I had a good freind like this, he eventually made e4 after like 5 years though. For myself it took me 5 tests to make E-5, but then a lot of the rates had opened up and like 30k advanced this year in all ranks e3-e5.
