Hoping someone can help me out here. I checked the owners manual that came with the car but all it says for the tranny is that my service technician will service the transmission. What bull****! I can't find my Bentley and I have searched but cannot find the follow.

    The transmission code?

    Fluid capacity

What type of fluid I should, supposed to use.

I have 67k and want to do a fluid/filter change but I have been reading that the OEM fluid is not so great and want to know what the best fluid is I can use. I am assuming something synthetic.

    Thanks!

My chart (which I think is incorrect) shows Lt71141 which is a ZF fluid used for lots of BMW's with ZF transmissions, and the 01V (zf5hp19), which comes in B5 passats. I think this is incorrect because your car is a B4 correct? I would also assume your trans is a o96 family.

If your car has a dipstick it might say on the stick what fluid it was. IIRC Ihad one that was a 96 and it had Dextron stamped into the stick. (this one might have been an audi though???)

usually the fluid for 096 and 01m's is g052162a2, and there are lots of "mulit-vehicle" fluids that claim compatibility for that fluid (meaning they feel its close enough to put the number on their label). Mobile 1 multi vehicle used to have g052162A2 on its packaging but they changed the packaging. I like mobile 1 and run it in my car.
Auto trans fluid change or flush will not make a trans fail. Stop spreading the wives tale/urban myth.
