I remember watching that on TV with my dad when I was a kid. Group B and IMSA were so amazing.

Two words that must be in this thread: Smokey Yunick.
Touareg Hybrids are pretty nice, and the warm fuzzies I felt while driving the hybrid was actually the fingers of all of the German tax payers trying to reach into my wallet to get their money back. (Brendan@bwalkauto)

in the last video, the GMC commercial at like 6:30 is funny. In 1991 a 2wd pickup got 22mpg. Here we are 21 years later and we are STILL getting 21 MPG out of a GMC with a 5.3L (less than the 5.7L back then!)

What's going on GM?? HUH HUH!?!?!?!?! :p

I didn't know about Audi's presence in other forms of racing.

    Thanks for posting.

so wait, based on the last 2 segments on this video...

all wheel drive is superior to RWD more because of decreased tyre wear throughout a race than pure traction? (on pavement, dirt is probably a completely different story)

Watching those rally stage clips of the '80s I couldn't help but think that if I had been one of the drivers at the time, I would've just refused to drive anymore, if they didn't do something about the specators. No motorsport is worth dying for and even if it wasn't my fault, injuring or killing someone by hitting them is something I wouldn't want to live with. Crazy.

That's correct. I saw this supported by a comparo of a 911 Carrera S vs 911 Carrera 4S. Same conclusion.

Group B rallying was the most-ut. I have hours of VHS recordings from the ESPN glory days of covering WRC. Awesome stuff.
Do you enjoy old cars and long-winded stories about them? If your answer is "yes", then you might enjoy my blogpage. Try it here: http://vwlarry.blogspot.com . Leave a comment, too; I love feedback! Thanx for reading.

My team is preparing both a 200 and a 90 for racing, so this was excellent and well-timed, thanks

Altogether that was one of the most exciting things I've ever watched. Thank you!

And I was also one of those perplexed and amazed by Walter Röhrl's footwork. If I had that kind of coordination!

And I was also one of those who, upon seeing the first video, was exclaiming (out loud) "THOSE SPECTATORS WTF?!"

that and the old EPA calculations were massively generous. typically they were off by over 20%. meaning 21mpg today is probably 24-5mpg on a window sticker 20 years ago.
    Regarding DD'ing a tuned Evo:
