I'm 27; no family history of hair loss in my bloodline.
For the past few months, I noticed an increase of little pimples in and around my hair, with a flaky scalp. Two weeks ago, I noticed hair falling out from the top of my head at an accelerated rate
I went to a dermatologist at a local hospital, who said I have "seborrheic dermatitis," threw a bunch of antibiotics and medicated shampoos at me, got all the directions for them mixed up, and kicked me out in 10 minutes.
However, my hair is still falling out, although not as fast. Anyone else here ever dealt with this?
I have resorted to using grooming products over the years because my hair grows straight out and I look like I have a helmet if it gets too long. Should I continue to use these? Are there any grooming products that can help hair? For example, I put in lightweight gel today, and it made my hair look thinner than usual (I also got a haircut 2 weeks ago).
And, as haircuts are concerned, should I get them frequently or infrequently with this condition?
Or, am I over-stressed? I think this condition flared up because of stress already.

I've actually been getting the little pimpls as well with acclerated loss. WTF
It's all about squats and deads.

I'll remember that.
So the hair loss went down; then I started a new medicated shampoo (DHS Zinc, per doctor's orders), and the hair loss got worse today.
You most likely have seborrheic dermatitis like me; has anyone else here ever dealt with this condition?leakypipeDCI

Extreme stress is very related to hair loss, as well as seborrheic dermatitis. I have all three. However, the seborrheic dermatitis does not cause hair loss. I get the seborrheic on my face sometimes which really sucks. Ears, nose, and the crease between my lip and cheek. I use a paste made up of borax and water, it works really well. As far as the hair loss if it really bothers you, can get propecia pills they are supposed to work. I just deal with it.

I have extreme stress, but my doctor told me it's the seborrheic dermatitis that's also helping with the hair loss. And, looking at hairs that have fallen out, I'm definitely seeing the bulky white encrustations at the base of the hair; like it's chocking it out of my scalp.
I'm a little frightened by Borax; I use that to kill cockroaches and to boost cleaning in my dishwasher.
Is your hair growing back?

The Borax was recommended to me by a doctor, I know I was like really? But it does work. He told me to use it on my face not the hair. The hair I use Nizoral shampoo and Head and Shoulder conditioner. I've had good control this way. The seborrheic dermititis is caused by a yeast and the borax kills the yeast. It's a lot safer then all those expensive steroid creams too. When I have periods of less stress, the hair does seem to get a little thicker. The seborrheic dermititis on my head that I have usually is on the sides and back, and my hair loss is on the top so at least for me the two are not related.

I'm doing that, except I'm still on medicated shampoo. I used hair care products for years; I hope that doesn't kill off hair now. I just gave up gels and pomades.
Ha anyone tried Nizoral? I've heard only good things about it. It has some restorative properties, apparently, and it clears up dermatitis and bad dandruff.

Try using head and shoulder hair endurance for men. I've been using it for two years. And it def. has slowed down the hair loss.
