VW online parts retailer

Hi guys,

I am looking to buy VW parts online and I came across this website called: www.germanautosupply.com

Their price seems to be a lot cheaper than the other online retailer. Does anyone know if this seller carries genuine VW parts? If anyone has any experience with this online store, please share with me. Thanks.

I've never heard of them before. I'd stick to the known good suppliers. Plenty out there for price shopping.

GAP (germanautoparts.com) all the way. Never, I mean never had a problem with them... And they are also actual humans, VW enthusiasts... And to me that counts for something even if some other company is a dollar or two cheaper

GAP can be okay I do still use them on occasions greatest thing for me is they are in the same UPS zone as me so standard shipping is next day. Now understand I've been dealing w/ them since the late 80's when the Co name was Adirondack Auto Brokers? I beleive they were 2 companies actually and German Auto Parts "GAP" just took off as a name. My biggest trouble w/ them is they carry and supply a lot of knock off parts not OE, and the OP is looking for "genuine VW parts" plus you will hear this again later but that is there choice to carry these parts "human factor". I've had many knock off sensors fail and even not working new out of the box. I've even got mis-matched parts from GAP specifically bushings I got 3 different mfg's when rebuilding a suspension and they all had a different durometer, yeah sure all with in mfg spec but please the molding and shapes were quite different and the picker/packer should have known better, there is the human factor again. I've also has 2 after market speed-o cables from GAP fail only 3 months after installing them clicking and jumpy gauge very annoying, they were GEM brand. I understand they do not make the parts but they do chose to carry and supply them and unless you call and specify you want a specific brand or mfg you will be getting what on top of the pile, which then no long makes them a good blind supplier.

The problems you mention may or may not be indicative of them... Those are actually problems I have had and witnessed with MJM... And I don't want to even get into ECS's nightmares... So GAP it is for me. I've been getting stuff from them for the better part of a decade and have not had one problem.

All the big name supply companies all share the same parts suppliers. Every one of them... ECS, GAP, MJM, Urotuning, etc.. all get parts from the same people. Just like wheel companies all get their cheapo wheels from the same factories in Taiwain (klutch, VMR, RW, any OEM rep company). They won't admit it, and will deny deny deny, but it's the truth.

If anything, worldimpex has the best actual OEM supply, but no one ever mentions them...

And Adirondack Auto Brokers is how my CC charge shows up on the bill.

Over 2 decades in the VW scene here guy (build up and sold several repair shops) and for the most part we are on the same page. I know several people (most personally) at almost all the aforementioned vendors. But again they are just that vendors Parts.com is a multi-franchised dealer Maroon VW in Delray FL (not gonna get more OE than a dealer) and basically they are only marking up by 3-5% vs 30-50% that other dealer do. And like I said I do like GAP but to get good OE parts German made products you have to break down and call and when your time and schedule is hectic that's not always convenient. And World Impex (I almost bought that business couple yrs ago actually) is no different than any of the others vendors they are a dealer networked reseller.

I do implore all to give parts.com a try, one guy runs that particular department and only does there VW orders the parts are usually out there door in a true 2-3 days shipped FedEx (I've never paid more than $30 for shipping and that was for body panels most orders are $10 shipping, some parts to need to be pulled from other dealers/warehouses, but unlike ECS they don't over charge you to compensate for that shipping which is spread amongst other orders coming from the same source for other orders.

I completely understand the wheel company I used to have a friend who ran/owned a bike shop (pre-internet) and it was the same deal, you could get parts mfg over seas (Asia) and they would portray them as being exclusivity your brand but they were selling to other shops in the same manner.
