It's remarkable how hard it is to find someone willing to let me use their car to learn. I think I will just have to buy a manual and figure it out on my own. If I can drive it home, I get to keep it.

How I learned.. bought my first manual from a dealership, forced myself to drive it home..

I did the same. I once drove my cousins sunfire in a parking lot for about 15 minutes. A year later i bought my rabbit. As soon as I get out of the lot I have to deal with an uphill and traffic and lights. I stalled. I cried. Getting on the highway and staying in fifth for the 25 minute drive home was so relieving. The first thing I thought of in the driveway was "why didnt i get automatic?!?!?"
Two weeks later I was almost 100%, and now I cant imagine going back to auto-trajic.
