    fyi

i race circle track and a gear ratio near 6.3 suits me. available 020 trans don't have anything in this range so i took an avx trans with a 4.25 diff, left the 1st and second gears on the driven shaft. put the drive in from an aug trans, swapped the 3rd and 4th gears from the aug onto the avx shaft and gave me 4.25 x 1.44 giving me a 6.12 ratio in 3rd. also allows me to start in 2nd on restarts and go to 3rd rather than starting and leaving it in second. big deal on slower restarts.

just in case anyone else may want that ratio, it's how i did it.

6.3 is difficult to get to.

6.42 is available by putting an ACN/CHE ring / pinion in a 4speed and runing a 1.75 2nd gear. (cut off 5th gear end from pinion shaft)

you can also get a 6.09 in 2nd by running an old Dodge Omni 3.48 r/p 4 speed and put a 1.75 2nd gear in it.

here is my trans chart to help if you need it.
