Lots of cars, including my TSX have those AC vents in the glove box or arm rest that they claim keeps drinks cold/cool. I've got a 5-6 hour drive tonight, was gonna toss a couple cold cans of Dew in there, will it keep them coldish if the car AC is 65-68? I'm guessing no, but worth a try, right?

The one in my Land Rover works well to keep an item cold. The key there is "keep". Make sure they start out cold or it won't really get it all that cold.

the glovebox a/c in my mk5 GTI worked ok.

i am picky, so not really 'cold'. but definitely cooler then leaving something sit in the center console.

so for a soda, i would want something better. but for small food stuffs, it worked well enough to keep them cool and not melting.

I need to follow this... "Not everything you eat has to, or should, taste really f*cking awesome. Sometimes you need to eat 'boring' food to stay healthy.

They aren't meant to be cold refrigerators.

I think they do a decent job of not melting any chocolate candy bars.

if you put an existing cold soda inside there, it does keep it "cool"

But i dont think its purpose is to make your sodas ice cold.

Think about that tiny vent in there and how much room it has to cool.

The one in my Golf works well and keeps drinks condensation-forming cold when it is really hot and sunny outside, and the A/C needs to blow cold and hard to get the work done (even if I choose 70F). Clearly, if it is 75F outside /no sunshine and I chose 70F, it won't do very much.

Get some of those plastic-foam slip-ons for cans; better yet, wrap two layers of aluminum foil around that, in addition. (<-- = cool beer)

The one in the Passat I had worked great for keeping baby formula cool.
