If you mean the plastic piece on the side of the head, common problem. Replace it

Possibly, however I am not sure. I rarely buy parts at those places. German Auto Parts has the kit for around 10$. I live in VT and receive parts in a day when I order. They are in NY state. Also people seem to like MJM as well. I was just looking at a DIY thread to replace this part the other day but cannot find it now. If I do I will post a link to it. Good luck!

Local auto parts stores may or may not carry it. They probably wont have one in stock but can usually have it within 3 business days. I have found that napa auto parts stocks more parts for vw's than the rest.

For instance the vr6 has a coolant pipe that none of the other stores carry in stock but napa does.

The link that mkjett posted will tell you everything you need to know. The part itself is simple to replace, 3 allen bolts hold it on. Just make sure you dont over tighten the bolts when you install the new one, the part is made of plastic and will crack. Snug the bolts pretty good and you should be fine.

They never stock these. Call up a local German autopart store. Or go to the dealer
