  1. 09-01-2012 03:14 PM #1
Hi i have a 2004 jetta and im pretty sure the timing belt just broke on it.. My girl was backing out of a parking space when she heard a couple of clicking sounds then the car went dead. Im pretty sure its the timing belt. Whats the chance that the valves are not bent? and how much am i looking to get this fixed? I have a mech that says he will install the timing belt for 150 if i buy the part is this a good price??

ok here is why i think its timing belt...here are the codes i got P2181 P0411 P0341 Please let me know what you think

    P2181 is cooling system performance
    P0411 is SAI
P0341 is cam sensor plausibility. This code would appear in the event of a broken belt.

Remove the upper cover and have someone crank the engine. If the belt isn't moving, it's broken. Almost 100% chance on this car you've got at least some bent valves, but always put a belt on first and try to run it. Is this a BEV or BBW car?
