Thread: Realized 0-60 times

  1. 09-28-2012 03:55 PM #71
I've met Roman Mica a few times....and I live at the same altitude as him, and I've easily pulled better 0-60 times then 8 sec (I recorded it a few times, and put it in a different post).

From what I have gathered from the Cars and Coffee's I have been to is that he's not a big fan of VW's

Long story short, from a stop sign, right hand turn, 0-60, I was able to get 5.8 with a passenger in the car timing me. Give or take a margin of error...I was just happy I was able to surpass Roman's 8 second+ time.

My less than scientific approach got me close to published magazine reviews, so I am happy.

He seems to be a fan of the GTI, but for some reason, he has a hair up his ass about the R. I think he doesn't like it because it doesn't come with the DSG stateside.

I can see why he would want a DSG because he can't drive a manual if he is pulling times over 8 seconds.

It just bugs me when a "journalist" tries to come accross as unbiased, when they clearly are biased.

WTF is a DMF in this context?

I was going to ask too.

I guess this is to smooth out the drivetrain? Or to absorb shock, especially with AWD? Easy enough to change especially if your clutch goes out. Lightened single mass.

Stage 1. Launch was good, not great. Pavement cold and damp. Think I could shave at least another tenth if not more off that with a perfect launch and better conditions. Don't wanna try too often though. Hit 60 before shifting into 3rd

Wanted to see what the combo put down. I should be stage 1/carbonio after the APR BBQ. If I can make it early enough.

You will notice a significant improvement over stock. Of course you get used to it after a while, which is why I'm probably gonna go 1+ or 2 after winter. I think then i should see a sub 5.0 time

How high can the R rev with the clutch in? I was pegging at 3900. I only got a 6.9 sec launching at ~3300. Im using the torque pro app. Im going to recal it and try again tomorrow.

I need to borrow my friends performance box to times my 0-60mph times one of these days. But, is it possible for a Stage 2+ R to hit high 4's 0-60mph?

Poster above hit 5.36s with a stage 1, I see no reason why a Stage 2+ wouldn't get into the 4s with a good launch.

The P3 Gauge reads the VSS... which is actual speed... not the overage displayed on the Cluster.

Far as I know, like most of the new VAG cars, it'll only rev to a certain point unless criteria are met.

Traction control off, car in first, parking brake off, foot to the floor on the clutch, foot off brake = rev to whatever.

I launched at about 4000. Next time, I'll try around 5000. Then I'll go 1+ in the spring and see what happens

I think most Stage 2+ people are seeing low 5's... 4's would be sweet but not realistic. Our car is not a drag car... period.

When I was bone stock, I launched at 4500. just enough to break all 4 and throw you back [up]

According to the mustang dyno thinger that lets you launch on it, I was told 5.25s while stage 2+.

I think it's a hair faster in the real world. haven't tried to time it yet.

I'm willing to bet a properly driven stage 2 or 2+ would come in below 5.0, if not significantly below 5. For the money paid for a turbo back, if you don't run at least a 4.8, I don't see how it could be worth it. Anyone else want to make some runs and post some #'s? Pics or it didn't happen.

I -partially- agree.. VW says 5.6 to 60. Thats with xxx horsepower, stock. Now, I'm currently 75hp/100tq over stock... one would think my 0-60 should be substantially lower [than the 5.2 implied by one ****ty test on a dyno] and I would hope as well for a sub 5 run. I'm not sure a TBE alone justifies anything like that, but certainly the total power numbers should.

I've gotta get a g-box or whatever that timer is. I'm going to find something this weekend.

Curiously, cadillacs ATS is supposedly touting a 2.0T with 270hp, awd, and a 3500lb curb weight, with a 5.9 to 60.

Really, that offers little the conversation, but I found it interesting.

Got down to 6.6 launching at 4500-4700. That's about the highest I feel comfortable going. I don't think that I could get down to 5.6. The best launch I had was feathering the clutch at 3300 and got a 6.9 with esp on.

It's not so much about the RPMs as it is about how well you slip the clutch.

I made a pass yesterday and today with my G-Tech.
Car is stock except for Carbonio, 50 degrees with half a tank of 93 octane.
Yesterday I got 5.85 with a 4200rpm drop and alot of bog.
Today I got 5.77 with a 5000rpm drop and less bog but still some.
I was hoping for lower times but the bog on launch is the problem. All gears shifted at 6000rpms and as you know going into 3rd to reach 60mph.

You'll probably bog less if you slip the clutch a little but you're clutch won't like you.
