Selling to a Nigerian prince. They seem to have a lot of them.

And by normal car I mean something that isn't a $1k beater 82 Civic.

I sold two cars back to back on Craigslist.
Cleaned up both really well, took about 5 good pics.
Asked a reasonable price that I was willing to come down a bit on.
Sold both cars to the first person to show up.
Subaru Outback and my Wife's Saturn SL1.
Granted - both cars ask was around $3500 and I sold both for a shade under $3000 each.

Craigslist. Basic on the verge of being vague ads, year/mileage/MT or AT any really obvious things about the car and a phone number. No text, no e-mails, they call me not the other way around. The couple not out of the ordinary cars I've sold have gone quickly this way, just be prepared for lots of flakes.
I pick a meeting place close to home to minimize my costs in the event of a flake. Price 25-30% higher than what you actually want, that way they can feel they "beat you down" on the price and got a good deal, you get what you wanted out of the car worst case, sometimes it's a no question asked they give you the ad price and you walk away up on the deal.
Other than that, I usually end up selling/trading off beaters or odd-balls on local forums, can't handle the idiocy that comes with selling something that's more than 15-20 years old and not in restored high dollar shape on craigslist anymore. Too many folks that expect a jewel for $500.
Stance is not a verb.

Had an '08 Nissan Frontier with 47k miles listed on CL for $18K about two weeks, got no calls not a one. After giving up on CL, I thought I would try one more option before taking to CarMax. Actually it was suggested by a few members here, I drove down to the nearest Nissan dealer where I asked if they would be interested in buying my Frontier. Salesman went inside and got "used car manager" who couldn't write me a check fast enough. To be honest he literally asked "what do you want for this" I said I'm asking $19,500 on Craig's for it, he said "will $18,500 wrap this up?" I think I was shaking his hand before he could finish telling me.
This was awesome because I would have taken anything between $19500-$18000 from CL. Easiest transaction ever, was out of the dealers lot in 15 min total with check in hand.

I never used to do it, but lately I've been putting my phone number on any Craigslist ad, cars or otherwise. It's annoying to get calls at all hours, but I found it more annoying replying to tons of emails and never getting responses, and weeding through spam. If they really want it, they'll call.

i bought my last car on craigslist from someone my age who had similar taste as me as the car was lightly modified.
i think if you make the ad seem legit (proper grammar, good info, pictures) you wont have too hard of a time selling it. esp if you clean it up nicely.
