I'll agree 100% with complaints about the back seat though. The Focus-based Mazda3 suffers from the same ailment, but as pointed out, both have excellent hatch space.
Not as good number as I thought....IL's GTI number was 6.9 and 14.9. Need to find the braking, skidpad and slalom numbers...

Focus ST destroys the MS3 and GTI in the latest Road and Track compaison.
My favorite quote from the article....
Ford’s new Focus ST is a starship amongst suborbital dinghies. It backs up its sci-fi looks with an EcoBoost engine that shreds time and space. It dominated every performance category in this test except observed fuel economy, and did so in a way that’s both confident and entertaining. This is the new highperformance standard against which any other mass-produced car with a 4-cylinder engine will be judged.
What I find interesting is IL's 1/4 mile number has the ST trapping 93mph and the IL's GTI number(from a few years ago) has 95mph trap speed. If anything you'd think the extra power on the Ford would make itself known in that respect...
This R&T test is good... the ST does what it's supposed to, and VW will surely respond with an equally competitive (or even one-up Ford) with the Mk7 GTI. Then Ford will do the same thing, and back and forth it'll go, and we will be the beneficiaries. Good times.
Numbersix's thread, he said that the rear passenger space of the Focus was smaller, not the cargo space. And it is. The Focus has 2" less rear legroom.

I think it's notable that R&T used a 3 door GTI versus a 5 door. I don't know the weight difference, but assume there is one, and that it isn't insignificant. That would have effected performance data a bit more.
My closest Ford dealer has 4 of these right now. I just walked around a white one and a blue one a few minutes ago. It might be the over cast day, but I did not like Performance Blue in person...it looked very purple.
